FOOTBALL Coach Don Drebus, head of the Cardinals, did a wonderful job of getting our boys in shape. This preparation, thanks to Mr. Drebus and the rest of the coaches, caused the team to come through with seven wins and three losses. On Sept. 12, the gridders started the season with a 36-8 triumph at Brush. They then were defeated by Collinwood Sept. IQ before a jam-packed sta- dium by a score of S-11. The third game of the sea- son was Sept. 211 at Sandusky, Ohio. The Cardi- nals started out well and held the lead all the way by defeating the Blue Streaks 21-20. Oct. 3 they met their downfall at the hands of Parma here. On defense the team fought hard but the Redskins overpowered it by a score of 6-0. As liuclid host Oct. IO Drebus's boys were victorious 21-O. On Oct. I6 Shaker and Shaw fought hard, but the Cardinals were the victors by a score -of 38-6. On Oct. 24 the team traveled to Lakewood and edged the powerful Rangers by a score of 7-6. On Oct. 31 Shaw entertained Heights with a trouncing 33-12. Maple Heights fought hard on Nov. 7, only to lose by a score of 20-16. ln its last game of the season Toledo DeVilbiss proved to the Cardinals that it was too much to handle by beat- ing them 44-13.
