The Board members are Cecil S. Stonebraker, president; Karl N. Brown, vice president; Richard A. Gottron; Robert A. Henderson; and Mrs. Mariem S. Morgan. They are responsible for hiring teachers, planning the school curriculum, and preparing the school budget, which this year totals $1,000,000. In East Cleveland the cost per pupil averages $.‘132 yearly, ranging from $166 per kindergarten pupil to $350 for each senior high school student. East Cleveland can be extremely proud of its Board of Education for maintaining democratic ideals and high scholastic standards in East Cleveland schools. Richard A. Gottron Cecil S. Stoncbraker President Karl N. Brown Vice President BOARD OF EDUCATION Mrs. Ruth N. Morin Clerk-Treasurer 5 No one plans wisely without a goal that he hopes to reach. Thomas Briggs, Professor of Secondary Education of Columbia University, aptly describes the American dream (goal) in words worth remembering. The dream of a people made free by opportunity for everyone to achieve the best that is possible in him, bid then to insure that same differentiated opportunity, whatever it may be, to all others.” Your teachers, during your school careers, have given you a glimpse of the wonderful horizons which lead to the American dream. Your courses and activities at Shaw have revealed the responsibilities and obligations that you must meet if the dream of America is to be fulfilled. You are living in a world of ideas, and the human mind knows no limitation. I urge you, as you stand on the threshold to preserve the best traditions and practices of the past as you build your lives around the good new days which lie ahead. The future belongs to you. Each member, e-lected as representative of his homeroom or representative-at-large of his class, served on one of the eight standing committees. Those committees helped plan assemblies, rallies, two all-school parties, the welfare drive, and the campaign and election of the All Sports Queen. Student Council was also responsible for the running of the monitor system, the game-room, and the Lost and Found Department. An officers’ club comprised of presidents of all Shaw organizations was initiated. Through the Foster Parents Plan, Maryvonne Foussard, a little French girl, was aided. Expenses, advertising, and originality in copy and design are just a few of the problems to be met. As the work progresses, copy is written, checked and typed; candids, selected from the many pictures that are taken, are sized and pasted up; and the spelling on senior and undergraduate pictures is checked, along with countless other details. Besides hard work, there was the fun of concocting apt captions for the myriads of candids and examining interesting baby pictures brought in by senior class members. College Club sponsored trips to Hiram, Kent, Mt. Union, Oberlin, anti Baldwin-Wallace. Movies from various colleges were shown and guest speakers talked on such subjects as college life, scholarships, and sororities and fraternities. This year almost 130 Shaw students joined College Club and participated in its many activities. Sponsored by Miss Lucille Provo, College Club met on the first Monday of each month. Its program was designed to help the prospective college students on such matters as size, cost, and location of schools; scholarships; and what the various schools have to offer. NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY Twice a year the National Honor Society holds an induction assembly in the auditorium at which time new members are admitted. New members are chosen from candidates in the upper quarter of their class on the basis of scholarship, leadership, character, and service. Membership varies with the size of the class. Fifteen per cent of the upper quarter of each class are received into National Honor Society: five per cent when they are second-semester juniors, five per cent when they are first-semester seniors, and five per cent when they are second-semester seniors. Many of the Shaw students who receive this honor continue their education by going to college. Heading the faculty committee is Miss Clara Clendenen. The first semester officers were Ronald Schwartz, president; William Strack, vice-president; Nancy Erickson, secretary; and Lillian Barbey, treasurer. Because of your six cheerleaders’ ingenuity, the rallies have always held something new and different to create spirit and to interest you, the student. Headed by Lil Barbey, flic six girls—June Raufman, Gay Settevendemie, Jackie Cipiti, Judy Simons, and Lynn Taylor—have practiced all summer and after school on Wednesdays during the school year with the guidance of Miss Norma Smith. Their motto is “practice makes perfect.” Although they have not yet reached perfection, they do look pretty sharp out on the field, on the stage, or in the gym. Judy Simons Jackie Cipiti PEP CLUB The Pep Club was organized to promote spirit and to stimulate more student interest in sports. This year’s officers tried to achieve their goal by broadcasts, posters, selling shakeroos, sponsoring buses to games, selling programs, and cheering in a group for more unified yells. They also planned social events for the benefit of not only the Pep Club members but for the whole school, such as the Sock Hop. Remember . . . Particularly Exciting and Peachy-keen Cheering sections, including Laughter and Uproarious Barrels of fun. The power of prayer . . . Large crowd at game. Carole Cabot, publicity chairman; June Raufman, rice president; Joanne Zampino, president; Bertha Grano, secretary; Judy Mears, treasurer; Margaret Hunsicker, assistant publicity chairman are the hard working officers of Pep Club. Seated is Miss Norma Smith, club sponsor. With their two jobs, rooting the Junior Varsity basketball team to victory and pepping up the crowd, the J.V. cheerleaders were kept on their toes during the basketball games. The six girls, under the direction of Miss Joyce Eaton, practiced every Wednesday in the girls’ old gym. A Lake Erie League rule kept them from cheering at away games, but the girls were seen in action at every home game. Perky J.V. cheerleaders were Sue Reynolds, Rosalie Klusker, Cindy Scott, Marcia McGuire, Ann Tomcho, and Mary Waechter. Every Shaw student should appreciate the hard work of the movie operators. To them life is one continuous movie as they devote study halls and lunch periods to their work. Their sponsor, Mr. Albert Dolan, is proud of these hardworking boys, who are recognized on Honor Day for their services to the school. J.V. CANTEEN COUNCIL Many Shaw students have attended canteens since junior high school. Canteen council, the main social organization of the school, planned these dances. Presidents for the first and second semester council respectively were Lil Barbey and George Blanchard. The decorations, publicity, and assignment committees assumed most of the responsibility for the dances. Various themes anti bright, colorful decorations have increased the popularity of canteens. These girls presided over general meetings that alternated with cabinet meetings every other Wednesday. Many projects were undertaken this year by Junior-Sophomore Friendship girls and their new sponsor. Mrs. Barbara Bowling. They included caroling at the McGregor Home during the Christmas season, sending food to a needy family in East Cleveland, and collecting clothes for the Phyllis Wheatley Association. A “get-acquainted” party, the annual Mother-Daughter Pot-Luck Supper, and a Christmas (lance sponsored by the Friendship and Letter-men’s Clubs were social events supported by Junior-Sophomore Friendship members. New and unusual in this year’s calendar was a breakfast in the cafeteria. About 145 members co-operated in these projects, which not only promoted friendship but also were of service to the community. 52 At the Tinsel Twirl . . . SENIOR FRIENDSHIP Beginning with a “get-acquainted” party and Simplicity pattern style show, given jointly with Junior-Sopliomore Friendship, and ending with their annual Senior Pot-Luck Supper, this year has been an eventful one for Senior Friendship. Their projects included decorating the Friendship Room and serving in the snack bar of Highland View Hospital for a few hours one Saturday afternoon a month. The “Big and Little Sister” project was also introduced into the Senior Friendship’s program. This latter project, which was started in the fall, was successful in acquainting more lOth-grade girls with the senior girls. Keeping this plan in mind, the Social Committee planned a Halloween Masquerade Pot-Luck, where the Big and Little Sisters came dressed in related costumes. Highlighting Friendship’s year of social activities were the Friendship-Lettermen’s dances held in the new gym during the Yuletide and spring seasons. “Chimp,” Jean Malmstead, and “Monk,” Carole Goldie, go through their routine. It marked the end of a 25-year waiting period for the East Cleveland “Y” to have a home of its own. The building, of contemporary design, is beautiful inside and out. It has a game room, craft room, adult lounge, offices, checkroom, and plenty of storage space. However, the huge banquet room, used for dances, and the completely -equipped kitchen, accommodating 150 persons, are best of all. There are three club rooms, which Ili-Y uses for its meetings, and the basement sports two cavernous game rooms, which are not yet completely furnished. The dedication also marked the end of fifteen years of faithful and unselfish devotion to duty on behalf of William V. Cumler, who came here in 1941. Mr. Cumler will be missed; he is now the director of the Business Men’s Club at the Central YMCA. In his place is Gordon Esch. Mr. Esch, from Heights High, was an Air Force pilot in World W ar II. lie has a background of nine years in YMCA and social work. Hi-Y meets every Monday night. The members get together and plan many projects useful to both school and community life. The first Hi-Y dance in the spacious new building was held on February 25 and was only one of the many activities planned. Clean speech, clean sports, clean scholarship, and clean living is the pledge of the Hi-Y boys. 55 ROOM CAND1 CLASS BAND Even before the school year began, Shaw’s band members were busy practicing for the coming football games. When school started, the band practiced everyday during seventh period under the direction of Mr. S. Robert Fraser. It played during the flag-raising ceremonies, the half-time shows, and numerous rallies during football season. A smaller group helped supplement the cheering and school spirit at basketball games. The band also marched at the Indians’ opening game, Randall Race Track, and the Memorial Day Parade, besides performing at the annual Spring Concerts. Early last fall the 75 members were also busy helping Kiwanis raise money for new band uniforms by selling and delivering snow shovels. They also washed cars and sold gasoline at the Sinclair Gas Station. The project was a huge success and enough money was raised for 100 new band uniforms. In appreciation of East Cleveland’s support the band presented a “Thank you, East Cleveland” concert. The girls’ vivid red satin surplices and long black skirts and the boys’ black robes, accented by red stoles, were eyecatchers. The Christmas season was a busy one with engagements at Halle’s, SteYling-Lindner-Davis, and the Public Square. Their annual Christmas program, featuring a candlelight procession and renditions of sacred, traditional, and popular numbers, put one in the right mood for the holiday season. A source of amusement to the audience is the annual choir medley, a conglomeration of current hits, commercials, and old favorites. Lucky is the choir member whose birthday falls during the school year. lie is serenaded by the 98 choir members, who have learned to sing “Happy Birthday” in parts. What more could anyone want for his birthday? 60 T1 le Shaw orchestra, under the direction of Mr. S. Robert Fraser, really has to work during its rehearsals because there are only a few minutes each day when all the members are together. Although Mr. Fraser would like a few more mem-l ers, the orchestra does quite well with what it has. The orchestra performed at the Christmas program and for both Commencement programs. One event which every orchestra member looked forward to was the annual Lake Erie League ft Orchestra Festival. Instrumentalists from all the L.E.L. schools combined to form an orchestra of about 180 pieces. The result was a professional sounding group which made good listening and also gave students the experience of playing in a large orchestra. ORCHESTRA FIRST ROW: Gail Dunlap, Ruth Philipp, Linda Schweizer, Andrea Allen, John Groves, Richard Greenman. SECOND ROW: Bob Myerscough, Margaret Sheldon, Georgia Buckingham, Mary Ellen Maher, Mary Ann I,ee, Dave Keek. Nancy Hodge, pianist, Tom Waehter, Judy Collova, Larry lliirtland, Nancy Bryan, Al Alexander, Nancy Collova, Fred Harsh, and Barbara Kline comprised this year’s octet. With six new members, the Octet, under the direction of Miss Margery Shields, is one of the most popular Shaw vocal groups. Besides being featured with the Rhythm Teens, the Octet has appeared at a Case Fraternity House, Owen’s Plantation, and for the Singers’ Club at Park lane Villa, where their interpretation of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” was enjoyed so much that an encore was requested. Another specialty is their clever arrangement of “Zip-a-dee-do-dah.” Rehearsals for the eight singers are held in the evening at individual homes or in the morning before school. VOCALISTS: FIRST HOW: Nancy Collova, Carol Bandy, Barbara Kline, Betty Reid, Nancy Bryan, Agnes Tartara, Linda Yannetta, Judy Collova. Shaw’s String Ensemble is composed of four girls, who practice on Mondays during fifth period. They performed at fashion shows, the annual Shaw Football Banquet, and wherever a small group was needed to provide background music. One of their main engagements was the opening of the new Y.M.C.A. building on Lee Road. Comprising the String Ensemble were Janet Stillinger, Andrea Allen, Ruth Philipp, and Gail Dunlap. STRING ENSEMBLE RHYTHM TEENS Finishing its third year of performing and entertaining was an outstanding group of 32 Shawites (16 vocalists and 16 instrumentalists). Collectively they’re known as the Rhythm Teens, and they’ve made a name i for themselves while performing for various civic and service groups, clubs, fraternal organizations, and school assemblies. The Rhythm Teens are composed of vocalists and instrumentalists selected from choir and orchestra. They rehearse outside of school time under the direction of Miss Margery Shields (“Ma”) and Mr. Robert Fraser (“Pa”). One of their noteworthy performances was given last June, when Rhythm Teens was the featured talent in Kiwanis’s 40t.h International Convention at the Public Auditorium. 'Phis organization, patterning its show after that of Fred Waring, comes close to sounding like a professional group, making the 7:45 A.M. “Sunrise” rehearsals quite worth while. This mixture of work and pleasure brings satisfying results to the Rhythm Teeners and all who hear them perform. Shaw’s dramatic club, sponsored by Miss Lois Dean, not only benefits aspiring actors and actresses but also anyone interested in the theater and its activities. Various phases of the theater including acting, stage setting, lighting, make up, costuming, and directing are presented at their meetings on Thursday after school. At that time members have fun working out plays, radio scripts, and similar stage entertainment. This year’s first-semester officers were Sally Rapp, president; Ann Tomcho, vice president; Janet Vyse, secretary; and Barbara Palmer, treasurer. DRAMATIC CLUB Stage crew members Jack Cooper, Bruce Walko, Mike Ciani, Paul Raymer, Ronald Schuster, Bob Weis, Dick Eiamon, Dick Ruppe, and Clyde Zirm are hard at work! STAGE CREW An important but virtually unknown part of Shaw’s dramatic system is the stage crew. Under the direction of Miss Lois Dean, the “hands” work behind the scenes, adjusting lights, pulling curtains, and shifting “flats.” They are rarely seen except when they move furniture onto the stage or change the position of the microphone. Shaw’s plays, rallies, and musical performances would be impossible without the aid of the stage crew. 65 OBSERVER FIRST ROW: Mary Lois Lakins, Carol Kraft, Pat Iloff, Barbara Widlitz, Ralph Kieffcr. BUSINESS CLUB FUTURE NURSES The Business Club, whose membership jumped from 18 members last year to over three times as many this year, met once a month in room 309 under the direction of Mr. Paul Hammer. The manifold purposes of this club included promoting interest in business fields, providing guidance for those people taking a business course, and presenting the needs and qualifications of business. An interesting activity this year was a field trip to Nela Park. There have been speakers from Thompson Products and the East Ohio Gas company. President of the club was Rosalie Germaine. The Future Nurses Club, under the supervision of Miss Nina McWebb, meets the second and fourth Mondays of every month to help girls acquire a better understanding of nursing. Recently the members visited Huron Road Hospital to learn more about the School of Nursing there. Other activities planned for this semester include films on nursing and speakers from various hospitals. This semester’s officers are Rae Gray, president; Brenda Moser, secretary-treasurer; and Marion Frantz, committee chairman. FOOTBALL TEAM 1955 74 Shaw 19 West 7 Shaw 0 Collinwood 19 Shaw 13 Akron North 26 Shaw 0 Lakewood 40 Shaw 0 Heights 0 Shaw 0 Parma 26 Shaw 13 Euclid 14 Shaw 0 Shaker 26 Shaw 0 Canton Lehman 29 Although this season was not a successful one in the win-loss column, the boys all believe that they derived much from it in other ways. The team started off well with a victory over West High School, but faltered the next three weeks against Collinwood, Akron North, and Lakewood. It was not until the Heights game that the Cardinals averted defeat with a 0-0 tie on a water-soaked, muddy field. As the season closed, the record was one win, seven losses, and one tie. The nucleus of the squad was formed by juniors, however, and much is expected of the sixteen returning lettermen. Shaw can look forward to a more successful football season in 1956. 75 SHAW 19 WEST 7 Shaw started the season on the right foot with a 19-7 triumph over West High School. We came from behind to win. Tom Matte scored the second touchdown on a 40-yard scamper over left tackle. Harold Klug and Bob Cipriani also scored. Frank Menrini drives ahead for that extra yard. SHAW 0 COLLIN WOOD 19 A fine Collinwood team defeated Shaw on September 22 before 3000 fans. Collinwood’s victory brought the record for this old rivalry to 12 victories for each school and three ties. Collinwood Fullback Stan Jeno-vic, backed by a powerful line, carried most of the offensive load. Despite a heavy rain, the Railroaders played great football. Gary I oftus tackles a Railroader after a long gain. SHAW 13 AKRON NORTH 26 In the third game of the season, Shaw was defeated by Akron North. The Cardinals started well by scoring a touchdown and holding the downstaters in check. This glory was short-lived however. We never gave up though and scored once more before the closing gun. Touchdowns were made by Jim Rogers and Tom Matte. Tom Matte is of and running for Shaw’s first touchdown. SHAW 0 LAKEWOOD 40 The Cardinals were completely outclassed in this game. The final score read 40-0 in favor of Lakewood. The offense was hampered by 11 fumbles, which Lakewood turned into several touchdowns. On defense, we fought hard but the powerful Hangers proved too much to handle. Lakewood’s Ron Fisher is about to be downed by End Dave Fraser. SHAW 0 HEIGHTS 0 After the loss to Lakewood, Shaw proved it could come back by tying a favored Heights eleven, 0-0. Both teams gave a good account of themselves, and this game proved to be one of our greatest efforts of the season. The teams played through a constant downpour, which made the game doubly exciting for the fans. The game was highlighted by the defensive play of both teams. Dick Smith makes fast irork of a Heights ball carrier as Tom Matte is blocked by tico Tigers. Joe Russo stops a Parma Redman in time to avert another score. 77 SHAW 0 PARMA 26 After a quick first period score by Parma, the Cardinals buckled down and held the lledmen four times within the 20-yard line. At halftime the score read 7-0. Two Shaw fumbles in the third period set up Parma tallies. When the closing gun sounded, the score read 26-0 in favor of Parma. SHAW 13 EUCLID 14 Torn Matte, junior linebacker, started the game by returning an intercepted punt 65 yards for the first touchdown of the game. At halftime we trailed 14-6. The Cardinals managed to hold Euclid scoreless in the second half. We scored once more on a 17-yard run by Quarterback Harold Klug. The night was further saddened by the injury of End Jack Rowan. A Euclid Panther erodes a Cardinal. SHAW 0 SHAKER 26 In this game, the Cardinals changed from a T-formation to a single-wing offense and, with the help of four inches of snow, fumbled their way to another loss. However, the game was hard-fought by both teams and our team showed that they were made of the right stuff. Joe Russo drives over right tackle. SHAW 0 CANTON LEHMAN 29 The first half of this game was thrilling with both teams fighting hard. At halftime the score read 2-0, after one of Ron Wormald’s punts was blocked on our 10-yard marker. In the second half Lehman returned punts which netted them 21 points on runs of 20, 40, and 75 yards. Our boys tried hard. Canton's Dick Gelesky about to be stopped by Joe Russo and Tom King. 78 J. V. FOOTBALL The J. V. Football team under the direction of Coaches Neil Skinner and Jack Moore won two games while losing four. The boys demonstrated a knowledge of the fundamentals of blocking and tackling. Much is expected of next year’s team. Both the boys and the coaches felt that their best showing was against the strong Collinwood team. The score was 19-0. Although they lost more than they won, the J. V. Cardinals outscored their opponents for the complete season 60-53. Hon Schwartz was the only mid-term graduate. On your mark, get set, . . . . SWIMMING The Shaw swimming team had its best season in several years, although it was unable to win consistently in dual meets. In three of the first five meets it lost either by one event, or as at the Euclid meet, by one point 80-38. In the Euclid relays, Shaw placed fifth but did win the back-stroke relay in record time. At Kent the team placed fourth behind Lakewood, Canton McKinley, and Sandusky. Team effort on both the junior varsity and the varsity was terrific. Individually Stan Salter in the backstroke, Dick Knott and Jack Mclver in the freestyle, and Bob Eppich in the breaststroke, were outstanding. As often happens in swimming, a first-place finisher docs not assure victory. Shaw didn’t have the depth necessary to pick up second and third place points. Coach Phil Worcester started the junior varsity team this year. Through it many promising boys have had an opportunity to swim in competition. Go, Joe! INTRAMURALS This year, under the direction of Jack Moore and student Dick West, wrestling, badminton, table tennis, and volley ball were added to the already functioning basketball program. The wrestling portion of this year’s program was started in an attempt to revive the sport on a varsity level in the near future and was well-received by the boys. To show the students the basic fundamentals, the Shaker wrestling team gave a demonstration assembly. Division champions were decided and, in March, the school champions were crowned. BASKETBALL 41 67 44 36 48 44 66 60 67 59 49 57 54 72 After tasting defeat at the hands of an eager Collinwood team, the Cardinals defeated Cleveland Heights in the first L.E.L. game of the year. Trailing in the fourth quarter, the Shaw team tied it up as the buzzer rang and went on to win in overtime. The following week Shaw traveled to Parma and registered a lopsided victory over the Red men. Mentor was the next victim with our Cardinals showing fine board control and shooting ability. In a Christmas double header. Coach Grant Kibbel split his squad with a resulting win over Toledo Waite and a loss to the Alumni. Euclid next invaded the gym and the Cardinals again met the test in a one-sided affair. However the following week, things were more difficult against a fine Shaker team, and the squad won by a meager two points. Lakewood was next, and despite a good fight the Rangers emerged on top. The next two weeks, with the loss of center Bill Welch to graduation, the Cardinals’ march to the L.E.L. crown was stalled by losses to Cleveland Heights and Parma. With fighting spirit the Cardinals came back to take a victory from Euclid. The following week Shaw experienced its first defeat to U.S. since 1948 in a sudden death overtime. Shaker’s Red Raiders invaded our gym and after a fourteen point halftime lead the Cardinals muffed it and any chance of a first place tie in the L.E.L. Al Thompson and Dennis Rogers, who came up from Kirk, sparked the jayvees in the last few games of the year. Going into the last game, Tom King was high-point man with 88; Bob Heckman followed with 77. The jayvees were coached by Neil Skinner. It is hoped that next year these boys will add to the varsity effort. “The team got in a huddle”—and out came the cheerleaders. The purpose of Letterinen’s has been to promote and support all athletic programs set up by the Shaw Athletic Association. It also helped develop the qualities of leadership and sportsmanship in its members. Meetings were held on the first Wednesday of each month, and membership in the club was opened to all boys who received a letter in any sport. 89 TRACK TEAM 1955 FIRST ROW: Tom Reeves, John Reed, Harvey Weiner, Art Shank, Kurt Rusch, Jim Leach, Jay Hunton, Tom Matte, Ron Wormald, Steve Havas. Last year’s Shaw cindermen had spirit and showed the desire to win. Kurt Rusch, Jim Leach, and Jay Hunton were three outstanding seniors on the team. Curt Rusch was undefeated during the regular season. His specialty was the high jump. At the state meet in Columbus he cleared six feet. At the district meet he placed third. Jim Leach was beaten only twice during the season. The high and low hurdles comprised his specialties. Jn the Lake Eric League meet he placed second. He was also high scorer in the broad jump, 220-yard dash, and high jump. Jay Ilunton’s specialties were the 100-yard dash, 220-yard dash, and broad jump. He also participated in the state meet at Columbus. The team was composed of 45 men, 15 of whom received letters. Shaw’s high scorer was Jay Hunton with 135 points; Jim Leach ranked second with 121. Three sophomores, Jim Baus, Tom Matte, and Joe Schneider, won letters in their first year of varsity competition. Shaw finished third in the Euclid Relays and third in the Lake Erie League. In the 22-school district meet Shaw finished seventh. Coach Jack Moore looks forward to next year and another outstanding team. Up and over. 90 CROSS COUNTRY In the fall members of the cross country team begin practicing at Forest Hills. In a meet the members of both teams run a two-mile course over hills and streams and through woods. The Shaw cross country team finished last in the Lake Erie League. In the district meet it placed ninth in a field of 10. No matter what the outcome was, at least the boys were in there trying their best. Shaw has had better teams in the past and will be on top again in the future. Coach Jack Moore, who is looking forward to next year cheerfully says, “The only way we can go is up.” Leading by a nose! Jerry Sullivan led the pitching staff. When not on the mound, lie played first base, alternating with A1 Kregenow. The two top batters of the team were Dean Apple and Jerry Sullivan. Harold Klug was outstanding as a catcher, as well as being a good batter. Locke Thompson and Bob Biscotti also did well at the plate. This year the team will again practice at diamond number one in Forest Hills Park. All eighteen members of the team put up a good fight last year. Coach Bill Galberach said that this year the team will show even more spirit and desire. He’s hopeful that Thompson, Klug, and Biscotti will really go places. We can find some consolement in the fact that Shaw beat Heights for the first time in five years. “Casey at the bat” 92 Hull’s eye! The Rifle Club, sponsored by Mr. Walter Bandlow, meets every Tuesday evening at the East Cleveland Rifle Range, where the seven members develop their shooting skill safely. When not seriously engaged in competitive rifle matches, the marksmen often attend practice sessions wearing an odd assortment of headgear including an authentic Davy Crockett hat, a tam-a-shanter, a Panama hat, and an engineer’s cap.
