This old proverb could be the motto of the Life-Saving group. Many hours are spent in practicing after school. Accuracy and smoothness are the main elements of practicing arti- ficial respiration. A life-saver must be expertly trained in the head carry and the cross chest carry, to pass Junior and Senior Life-Saving. One is eligible for the Life-Saving group if able to: swim two lengths, crawl with head out of water, tread water for one minute, swim two lengths side stroke with one arm, back stroke without arms, swim one-half length under water, have at least one good front dive, back float for l5 seconds, and be able to retrieve an object from the bottom of the pool. First semester Junior Life-Saving was practiced, and the second sem- ester Senior Life-Saving. It is also necessary to have passed Junior Life-Saving before taking Senior Life-Saving. lf a Life-Saver had a perfect attendance and passed the final exam, she was awarded an emblem or pin on Honor Day. Seventy-five points may be gained towards an S letter if Junior Life- Saving is passed, lOO points if Senior Life-Saving is passed, and 25 points if a girl renewed the senior course. The Life-Saving Group is headed by Mary Wisecup, assisted by Rose- mary Campbell.

This year the aim of a Tarponette is to perfect her swimming for the annual Tarpon Pageant. This will be a swimming show of formations in costume with music.
