Mr. John Snavely Assistant Coach . . . . . .Mr. William Nick Manager ................. ........ B ob Ward HE Shaw heavyweight football team last year lacked that element which makes teams great. The team established an unprecedented record among Shaw teams by failing to score even one point during the entire season. Inexperience accounted for muchg few of the players had ever served as regulars before. Each defeat, however, was taken in true Shaw spirit. The climax of the season came when the Black and Red fell before the Heights tigers, traditional rivals. Next year's team will lack the faithful coach of the past fourteen years, Mr. John Snavely. Having coached many Shaw teams, winning or losing, in his fourteen years here, and now being busy with work toward his M. A., Mr. Snavely feels that some one else should carry the standard of the Black and Red to further victories. LETTERMEN . . . . . . . . . . . . . .McGinnis, Halliday, Ring, Spatz .. . . .Chappell, B. R oger Lindsey T the beginning of the 1935 season, with only two lettermen returning, the problem of building a new lineup had to be faced. Coaches Nune- maker and Vivian succeeded in producing a team which won seven out of eight contests. The highlight of the season was the victory over the heavy Parma team. The Lightweights, led by Captain Pat Burke, gave Parma a sound trouncing with the score of 19-0. The Heights Tigers also fell before a deadly aerial attack. Only a 6-0 loss to Elyria prevented the team from capturing the Lake Erie League Championship. LETTERMEN Shaw ......... Miss Bright, who sponsors this group, says, It gives the members additional work along lines of particular interest to them. As the average high school art student favors sketching from life, this phase is particularly stressed. The usual procedure at the club meet- ings is to allow a specified amount of time to the members for sketching, after which time a general discussion of the drawings is held.
