Gifford This year the purpose of the Shuttle staff has been to give an authentic representation of life at Shaw through pictures. The stall' has worked hard to make the annual as simple and complete as possible, to show the activities as they really are, and to present a picture of every senior. By ushering in the new type of group pictures, the annual is per- mitting you an informal glimpse of the various Shaw clubs in action. The staff believes that its new policy in photography will give you a more interesting and matter of fact acquaintance with these clubs. The staff wishes to express its appreciation to the other activities of the school for their whole hearted cooperation in its attempt to produce a good 1935 annual. page forty-seven page forty-eight First Semester Editor-in-Chief . . . .................. Richard Cleverly Heavyweight Basketball XVith only two lettermen, Lowell Rupp and Bill Snavely, returning, Shaw's outlook for the season 1934-35 in basketball was only mediocreg however, the rapid development of Walter Henry, a senior with one semester to play, along with the improved work of Ralph Peckinpaugh and VVarren Abbot, gave the team much needed impetus. In the first semester, the team, Walter Henry at center, Rupp and Peckinpaugh at forward, and Abbot and Snavely at guard, won five games, while losing three. The games away from home seemed to be the hardest to win. In the second semester, Bob Ridgeley and Norman Frank were used alternately in the place left vacant by the loss of Henry.
