FOREWORD In this yearbook, the 1954 Shad, we, the editors, have attempted to summarize the activities of the past year Brief though It ls, lt IS our hope that an later years as you leaf through the book its varied contents will recall to mind not only the bug events and best friends at Shat tuck but dozens of small recollections and Incidents all of which In the aggregate, profoundly influenced our development and maturity Let s not remember only the Winter Carnivals the football team, or that struggle to get through Senior English but let us recall as well that last lap of that mule against the Carleton Frosh, the bull session after the J S the trips to and from school events on the Red Rocket or lust relaxing In your room with reading, records, and grand old conversation If we can revlve these memories we will be happy but more Important, If this edltlon of the Shad reflects and recalls the Ideals, spmt and tradltlons by which Shattuck lives, we then will have accomplished our real oblectlve im W new Qi ff?
