TO THE CLASS OF 1947 Saying AU REVOIR to the Class of 1947 is difficult business. From a purely selfish point of View I Wish that we might hold on to your loyalty and the quality of your leadership for another year. Rarely has a class had both the perspicacity to elect superior leaders and the common sense to follow them. You have had both, and your record will stand to your everlasting credit. As you go from Shattuck you will take with you more than you will immediately realize. Unless you have been completely impervious to your environment you will bear the stamp of from two to five years of exacting training in the art of becoming a man. The world has always needed, and still does need men who count, who stand for the things that count. You know how to play your part. Everything at Shattuck has been designed with your needs constantly in mind. The hours in classrooms, in athletics, on the parade ground, in Chapel, in your dormitories, have all had their result.
