For several years it has repeatedly received top honors in both local and state competition. This year under the leadership of its new director, Bennie Valentine, it has willingly performed for civic affairs as well as activities of the school whenever its services were deemed necessary. Many of the individual members of the band have won high recognition as soloists and in ensemble groups in invitational, district, and state con- tests. LaWana Gourley and Homer Queen were selected as members of the 1955 All State High School Band at the University of Oklahoma. Mr. Bennie Valentine, Director. Mr. Valentine's congenial person- ality ond friendly smile have made him very well-liked by all the students.
