There are nol enough seals in lhe audilorium for all sludenls, and lhe fire deparlmenl has issued orders lhai every sludeni allending lhe assemblies musl' have a seal. The members of lhe council, led by Jrhe presideni, Ted Wilson, im- medialely senl' quesiionnaires around io all sludenls. These queslionnaires had various suggeslions for dealing wilh lhe problem and also asked for suggeslions from lhe sludenis. In lhis way, lhey hope lo work oul a salisfaclory plan. They were also conlronled wilh problems dealing wilh sludenl' funds and expendilures, keeping lhe campus clean, and olher problems lypical of any high school. The second semesler sludenl council was a fine example of how large a pari sludenl governmenl plays here al Shasla l-ligh. senior story In SepTember oT l954 Today's seniors TirsT began Their Tour years QT high school. This was a new ex- perience Tor Them, buT during Those Tour shorT years aT ShasTa High They have made a lasTing impression on The school. One OT The TirsT words The Tresh- 'nen learned when They enTered ShasTa High was orienTaTion. To T Them iT meanT learning Their way around in The greaT big school, learning The school song and The Alma MaTer, Tinding ouT whaT The mysTery called algebra was, and many oTher such Things. During This year oT orienTaTion They had Their TirsT TasTe oT class governmenT. ETecTed as presidenT oT The class were Don Baker Tor The TirsT semesTer and Tom Spade Tor The second semesTer. The annual Treshman magazine neTTed 52,900 wiTh which we were To Tinance a class proiecT and all class acTiviTies. The words carbureTor, igniTion, 'cluTch, and oTher relaTed words were The key words oT The sophomore class. As sophomores The class oT '58 had The privilege oT iniTiaT- ing The new driver Training program wiTh brand new cars donaTed by local auTomobile dealers. PresidenTs Dick Brennan and Joe Brouillard led The class Though a successTul year. During This year iT was decided To ioin wiTh The class oT '57 in Tinancing a TounTain proiecT. The TounTain was To be builT in TronT oT The shop buildings. During The iunior year Elvis Presley was The password. Elvis was noT The name oT a new course being oTTered nor did iT reTer To anyThing wiThin The school. IT was a side' burned, hip-swiveling rock and roll singer. His 'Houn' Dog, HearTbreak HoTel, and Love Me Tender were The Tunes sweeping The naTion. Since CenTral Valley High School was only a Two-year school, The class was ioined by The iuniors Trom CenTral Valley. These sTudenTs Took an acTive parT in sTudenT governmenT aT ShasTa wiTh Geauwanna Frank and Joe Moore serving as class presidenTs and JaneT POIT serving as a sTudenT body oT'Ticer. OTher sTudenT body oTTicers Trom The class were Jo Ann Shadwell, Sue Robinson, and KaTie HasTings. The Junior Prom, TvioonlighT and Roses, was one OT The besT ever held. The decoraTions were beauTiTui, and The Tormal TradiTion renewed. SaTelliTes and graduaTion are The magic words now. BoTh words are ones oT prog- ress and Things To come. This year is The year oT The TirsT man-made saTelliTes. The conquering oT space is becoming a realiTy. The senior class, led by presidenTs Terry BaTchelor and Dick Brennan, has made progress and has greaT promise oT Things To come. ScholasTically The class is superior. This year There are more English IV, Physics, Solid GeomeTry, and Trig. classes Than ever beTofe, and The class boasTs Twice as many liTe members oT C.S.F. Than ever beTore. A senior class council was Tormed To make nominaTion procedures more Tair and To plan class acTiviTies. Qne oT The proiecTs is To Try To geT a local youTh cenTer sTarTed. The senior class is now abouT To graduaTe, buT iT will be remembered aT ShasTa High Tor a long Time.
