They all carried ouT Their duTies well, making The second semesTer a successful one. l.eTTy Williams, varsiTy loaskeTloall yell leader, and Lylia Bidwell, iunior varsiTy yell leader, worked hard in making school spiriT so greaT. The yell leaders, song leaders, pep band, and The sTudenTs cheered The baskeTball Team on To iTs second place posiTion in The NIC baske-Tball TournamenT. The baskeTball Team is expecTed To do very well aT The Acker TournamenT which is To be held in Oroville This year. Some oT The Things which made The second semesTer aT ShasTa such a memorable one were many vicTorious baskeTball games, The crowning oT PaT Miller as baske+ball queen, The announce- menT of The Bank oT America cup winners, The inTeresT of The sTudenTs in sTudenT governmenT, and The high school spiriT. The ambiTions oT The sTudenTs, like The new U.S. saTelliTe, have soared sky high. The sTudenT council presidenT is The sTudenT body vice residenT. P During The TirsT semesTer The sTudenT council was very busy. IT passed a resoIuTion To Iimil parking on The Magnolia STreeT side oT The school To one hour beTween The hours af 8 a.m. To 4 p.m. Ward Sandy, commissioner oT building and grounds, was appoinTed To Talce This resoIuTion To The CiTy Council and Police DeparTmenT. The council also approved a I-lush Day sponsored by The Girls' League. On This day, any girl who spoke To a boy had To give up one oT her hush day cards. AT The end oT The day, The boy who had The mosT cards was declared Iv1r. IrresisTibIe. A commiTTee consisTing oT Carole SCOTT, Terry Barchelor, Lorraine Brennan, KaTie I-IasTings, Joe Moore, Joann Shadwell, and Barry Binks, chairman, was Tormed To work on The new sTudenT body consTiTuTion. This consTiTuTion would include a House oT RepresenTaTives. AnOTher problem conTronTing The sTudenT council was The roblem oT seaTing The Purple SIcirTs in The assemblies. IT was decided To give Them Tliie lasT Two rows oT The senior secTion and The TirsT Two rows oT The iunior secTion. These and many oThers were The roblems solved by The TirsT semesTer sTudenT council. IT was very busy, yeT very successTuIDunder The leadership oT presidenT WaI+ Adams.
