MR. RICHARD HAAKE Vice-Principal Uice-Princqnal A corollary oT The popular saying of Lincoln is, you can please all of The people some of The Time, some oT The people all of The Time, buT none cf The people all of The Time. This liTTle Theory has been exploded in The person oT Mr. Richard l-laalce, our vice-principal. This year a new sysTem was inTroduced whereby our second period class would serve as our homeroom. This would mean ThaT The TradiTion oi having all OT The seniors, juniors, sophomores, and freshmen siTTing To- geTher would be broken. The problem was Taken To Mr. l-laalce, and as a soluTion The sTudenTs were aT lasT permiTTed To siT where They pleased. This resulTed in noT only leTTing The diTTerenT classes siT TogeTher, buT made The audiTorium resound wiTh a new-Tound school spiriT. ConTrary To The popular belief ThaT vice-principals are sTern and un- yielding, Mr. l-laalce noT only is willing To help The sTudenTs wiTh Their problems, buT is always sTriving To malce our alma maTer a beTTer school. l-le aTTends all oT The dances To see ThaT They go well and ThaT we as sTu- denTs have a good Time. He helps in guiding our sTudenT council in de- cisions which will help The school TuncTion more smooThly and will malce Tor more all-around school spiriT. Nttendance 0 fice ShasTa l-ligh's aTTendance oTTice is probably The mosT acTive place in school. Mr. John Spencer has The dubious disTincTion of being our new aTTendance supervisor. IT is his duTy To see ThaT accuraTe, up-To-daTe aT- Tendance records of all sTudenTs are lcepT. On Tile in The aTTendance office is a compleTe record of all The absences Tor each sTudenT during The enTire Time he aTTends school here. An acTive Tile is mainTained which shows The daily class schedule, name of counselor, and home address OT each ShasTa sTudenT. All re-admissions To school musT be cleared by Mr. Spencer and permiTs To leave school Tor valid reasons are issued by him. STudenTs who work aTTer school or on SaTurdays are required To geT a work permiT which is issued in The aTTendance cTFice. The aTTendance supervisor deals wiTh sTudenTs who are TruanT Trom school. ApproximaTely TwenTy girls worlc in This oTTice as parT oT Their regular class schedule. They collecT all absence slips, conTacT sTudenTs Tor mes- sages on an emergency basis, provide a messenger service To Teachers and The oTher offices when iT is necessary, and do various oTher chores which are parT oT The eTfecTive operaTion of The aTTendance oTTice. Even Though he is lcepT very busy by his duTies, Mr. Spencer is a friend To all sTudenTs and is an acTive supporTer of all school acTiviTies. MR. JOHN SPENCER Ahendance Supervisor sxss
