Superintendent JACKSON PRICE Every year brings changes To a growing school sysTem. IT is somewhaT like a Tamily when new children ccrne-adiusTmenT and sharing become necessary. This year, The big change aT ShasTa is The separaTion of The sTudenT body inTo Two schools. ATTer a long period oT growing pains, ShasTa has maTured. Now iT has a young new broTher-EnTerprise. NexT year, anoTher iunior broTher is expecTed-CenTral Valley! The new schools have changed and will conTinue To change The experiences oT sTu- denTs who aTTend Them, and will even change The experiences of sTudenTs who aTTencl ShasTa. ln mosT cases, The opporTuniTies oT all pupils will be increased and The school experiences enriched. For example, many sTudenTs in EnTerprise This year are serving as sTudenT body lead- ers, or have played on an aThleTic Team, or have parTicipaTed in a play. 'lo mosT oT Them, These experiences would noT have occurred aT ShasTa, where only one such acTiviTy exisTed. Lilcewise, some ShasTa pupils would, undoubTedly, have been eliminaTed in a compeTiTive siTuaTion which included boTh sTudenT bodies in one. There are many such examples. The TirsT halT oT This year, when boTh schools were housed in one planT lsupplemenTed by The Civic AudiToriuml, was indeed diTTiculT. STudenTs oT boTh schools are commended Tor The remarkable way in which They responded To a diTFiculT siTuaTion. NexT year. TurTher adiusTmenTs will be necessary when parTs oT boTh ShasTa and EnTerprise are separaTed To make CenTral Valley. We have every reason To believe ThaT addiTional cpporTuniTies Tor all Three sTudenT bodies will develop as a resulT oT This Third new high school.
