t Mr. Denny is one of those rare personalities who can rise to meet any occasion. He can play the role of playwright for a skit, coun- selor for perplexing problems, or act in the capacity of a friend. The Class of l952 is particularly indebted to him for his inspiring leadership during our Sophomore and Iunior years. Now in his position of Vice Principal he has again lent us his aid and guid- ance. lt is because of his unselfish effort, his fine personality, and his noble character that We, the Staff of the l952 Daisy, dedicate this book to Mr. Charles F. Denny. .

IACKSON PRICE Young people are seldom conscious of the great changes that are taking place in the world about them. This is quite natural, for they have known no other age. Nevertheless, it is plain to members of a high school graduating class today that the times are unsettled and very uncertain. Old philosophies have been questioned: age-old institutions have been flaunted. It is impossible to plan into the future with any degree of certainty. There results a condition of great confusion, and but little feeling of per- sonal security. The mind of man has conquered the land, the sea, and the air. Science has split the atom and built the atomic bomb. We have come almost to believe that there is nothing our scientists cannot do for us. Yet, with all their masterful achievements, we do not have a sense of well-being and security. There are perhaps many causes contributing to this condition today. But, most of all, perhaps, is the fact that We are believing in science--in man, in- stead of in God. The mind of man cannot long deny the source of its divinity, nor can it con- tinue to labor productively in a spiritual vacuum. Science without a soul is much like knowledge without Wisdom. Man cannot live by bread alone. Great men like Lincoln learned early in life that there is a knowledge deeper than logic, richer than science. lt is the Wisdom of an Almighty. As you leave the cloistered halls of your school, and the sheltered environ- ment of your homes, to find your place in the sun, it will be well for you to put your confidence in a Supreme Being and place the highest values in the things of the Spirit. District Superintendent
