jim, Klum, 5 LEFT TO RIGHT: David Hummel, Iris Grove, Bill Iacobs. Gail Everest, Don Lack. LEFT TO RIGHT: Pat Landon, Buddy Frcmlr, Pat Mor- qnn, Marion Brazslton, Louise McDonald. DAVID HUMMEI. BUDDY FRANK President, Fall Semester President, Spring Scmollor ln September of l948 the class of '52 entered the halls of Shasta High. lust another bunch of green- horns then, but in four short years they had made an impression that would linger long after many of them had been forgotten. Under the leadership of Paul Williams and Bob Milton the class of '52 gained its initial velocity. The class was immediately recognized as possess- ing great qualities of leadership, scholarship, and athletic ability. Their contributions of organization leaders, entertainers, and athletes were in no small numbers. As sophomores they added momentum to their record-breaking career. With first Dearle Tolladay as president, and then Don Avey, they sponsored the Mad Hatter dance, proving their financial abil- ities by clearing more profit than any other dance of the year. ln their junior year the class of '52 exemplified their salesmanship by breaking all previous maga- zine sales records in selling 552592.80 worth of mag- azines. The class chose Bruce Bedynek and Larry Clark as successive presidents and gave outstand- ing delegates to Boys' State, Girls' State, the Rich- ardson Springs Conference, and various student leaders' conferences. Finally carne the crowning year. The richest class in school, with David Hummel and then Buddy Frank as presidents, made plans for a beau- tiful fountain as a parting gift to the school. They gave Larry Clark and Bob Brinkerhoff as outstand- ing student bcdy presidents, and they filled lesser offices with more of their aspiring leaders. ln all this, the class of l952 can look back with justifiable pride on a job well done. The precedent they have set at Shasta High will long remain, challenging future classes who would aspire to such greatness.
