BIOGRAPHY Our laTe principal, esTeemed Triend, and adviser, James O. Osborn, was born in Visalia, Tulare CounTy, on OcTober I l, I876. He was a graduaTe oT The Uni- versiTy oT California, and in laTer years he was always an acTive member oT The alumni organizaTion of ThaT universiTy. He devoTed some Time To educaTional work in Fresno and Alameda. While he was associaTed wi+h The American Book Company, he Traveled exTensively in boTh Arizona and California. ln l9Il Mr. Osborn assumed prin- cipalship oT The ShasTa CounTy High School. When in l927 he was esTablish- ed as principal of The new ShasTa Union High School, he had iurisdicTion over noT a mere one hundred sTudenTs, buT a sTudenT body now grown To over Tive hundred pupils. In his TirsT years as principal here, Mr. Osborn was also an insTrucTor in maThe- maTics: in laTer years, alThough he had long since Turned his classes over To oTher insTrucTors, his inTeresT in The sub- iecT made him a TrequenT visiTor in The maThemaTical classes. IT has TrequenTly been said ThaT more Than halT oT The populaTion of ShasTa CounTy has gone To school in Redding under Mr. Osborn. As Mr. Osborn was a Triend To every sTudenT, and as They respecTed and honored him greaTly, he will noT soon be TorgoTTen: buT raTher he will always be remembered Tor The greaT inTeresT he Took in our aTTairs and acTiviTies, and Tor The remarkable ac- complishmenTs he made while he was The principal oT our school.
