CH00 TSXXJ ROTC 5 GIRLS HI JINX The Glrls H1 Jlnx held on March 8 was declared by all il attend ance to be a great success altho less pep was shown by some of the classes than 1n prevlous years The Freshmen class were very much x 1 evldence because of garllc tDago forgt me notsj on thelr br ath BOYS HI JINX Nearly all of the boys attended the H1 .Imx held on March ez At the 1111118 set the upper classmen came runnlng ll1tO the Assembly Hall shlrt less but stlll IH hlgh spmts The Freshmen were selzed and nntlated Ill due form many practlcal Jokes belng played on them The bovs showed much 6llthl1S13.Slll 1n varlous boxlng and wresthng matches The stunts glven by each of the different classes were quvte clex el and were pulled off wlth great vlgor Plctures were taken ot the boy IH thelr odd costumes and later they were called by Mr Osborn to a small Hooverlzed luncheon whlch was wery satlsfyxng At lllldlllght the party broke up all votmg lt one grand success FRESHMEN RECEPTION Two weeks after school opened the three upper classes and faculty entertalned the lfreshmen at a most enJoyable atfalr lll the audltorluln whlch was charnungly decorated beflttmg the OCCHSIOII Dancmg was partlclpated ln the greater palt ot the ewenlng the upper classmen prox mg themsels es competent hosts Speeches were made by the presldents of all classe -Ks the 8X6llll1g w as xery Wilflll excellent punch was serx ed to refresh the dancers Thirty fu'1.rX ir' . , J x 1 -R ' X X 1 - , 1 ., Z..-V K 5 :c -' NW I . , . . 'Ghz 'Tfngb School Student Two years ago the high school student was considered to be useless during his school career The public thought that he could use his edu cation only in the future years But do you know the popular slogan today? It IS Let the high school students help And they do Although our school has only about two hundred student we are going to do our bit in this great war We subscribed two hundred and fifty dollars for the Y M C A fund We formed a Junior Rtd Cross Auxiliary and every Cwhen I say every I mean 1tJ student Joined This organization has made many valuable articles for our boys over there Two hundred and fifteen Uncludmg the facultyj members pledged them selves to buy a War Savings certificate before Christmas Nearly all J our boys pledged themselves to the Boys Working Reserve Our stu dents made a campaign ln the Third Liberty Loan and sold over S50 000 worth of bonds The students promise to Hooverize and the Senior gu'ls are going to spend only five dollars for graduating dresses The above actlvltles are not boasts but merely a. word of explana tion The high school student can realize the seriousness of this great all his heart In conclusion I wish to thank all the students and faculty members for their unceasing effort in trying to make this volume a success I want to take this means of especially thanking Miss Mallock Mr Dakin and Owen Wilson who did much for the art section and our Engllsh teachers the Misses Hopkms and Cron who aided the literary depart ment and also our typing teacher Miss Schllhng This IS your book merely a record of the year 1917 1918 I hope that you will enjoy referring to it as much as I have enJoyed the task of compiling it MAX POLSE 18 More Twenty nme . . 3, . . . l A f conflict, and he is prepared to help-not with a. hesitating step, but with c I ' I ,,-,f CTI X x,,5 . ig? .fx
