Twenty-one varsity monogram winners of Sharpsville Senior High School were inducted into the club during the ceremony which began with the organizing of the boys into groups, each of which were headed by a prominent Varsity S member. During the day the groups toured the downtown district of Sharpsville doing odd jobs for the purpose of raising money to offset the cost of the banquet which concluded the initiation. As the boys were going about their tasks, they were harassed by Varsity S members, Mr. VVilliam McKinley, veteran American League umpire was guest speaker at the banquet and provided an enlightening and entertaining talk on baseball. Throughout the year the Sharpsville athletic council organizes and controls all athletic activities of the high school. The success of S. H. S. athletic teams is dependent on the efforts put forth bv the organization. I s 1959 - 60 A successful boy's intramural bas- ketball program was conducted at Sharpsville Senior High School dur- ing the 1959-60 basketball season. A six team league was organized and supervised by Mr. Thomas Lally, a member of the high school faculty. A fine representation of all three classes, senior, junior and sophomore, was included as the boys exhibited good sportsmanship and a high regard for the game of basketball.
