CLASS HISTORY From the beginning we were dif- ferent. When the first grade teachers looked into our fiendish little faces in September, 1945, those teachers knew things were going to be changed and so accordingly the teachers turned green. In a ceremony at Robinson Build- ing, two of our number were chosen to unveil the picture-Margee Grimes and little Georgie Reid, who later be- came the best Valentine Day mailman the third grade ever had, Grade school was one mad whirl. Between the Union English Club tal- ent shows, Robinson's kickball teams tMitzie Lyden and Mary Ann Cmn- bine, captainsj , Mr. Kelly's false teeth, those crazy swimming lessons, the flutephone band twe were musical even thenh. Deeter's 'ring up' squad and Mr. McVVhirter's talk of Arizona. life was pretty gay. When we 'hilt' junior high, there came the explosion heard around the world. Seventh grade saw the advent of dancing lessons. The eager young dancers lived for those lessons each Thursday night. Young romance was blossoming. There were two plays given when we were in seventh grade. One, starring Margee Grimes, was all about a 'bleach' blond. It was well received by the students, and its star went on to greater things in her junior year. The other one, an original drama about the mysteries of India, had a live corpse, Pat Connelly, who just wouldn't stay dead. When we had started into junior high, our class had about 125 members. At graduation time there were about 107. The strain and excitement that our class had generated was too much for them to stand.
