Sharon Springs Central School Sharon Springs, New York 1982 CLARION Dedication ,itJ“W?th great Pleasure that the Seniors dedicate the 1982 CLARION to Henrietta “Hank” McFee. Throughout her years at Sharon, Mrs. McFee has played many roles. She has taught kindergarten and physical education and coached girls’ sports. However, it is Mrs. McFee’s gracious and caring manner for which she will also be remembered. Thank you with love. 2 Mr. Grishman I will always have very special memories of my three years in Sharon Springs. me™on€« will I filM With friendship, warmth, and love. I wish you all a future filled with health and happiness. May all of your tomorrows be beautiful! wishes The Senior Class wishes to extend to Mr. Grishman their hopes for a prosperous and rewarding future. Good Luck to you. 3 Although I have been at the Sharon Springs School and community for a short time, I feel quite welcome and com- fortable. The Class of 1982 has helped make my transition easier by communicating openly with me and participating in school affairs actively. One attribute which stands out is that of cordiality and good manners. It is with pleasure that I extend to both the Class of 1982, and the staff that guided your class, a sincere note of congratulations. It is obvious that the models and instruction were provided and also that posi- tive, accepting minds interacted. An interesting student is one who has square thoughts but won’t resist circles or triangles. An interesting student is one who wants to escape to, not from. An interesting student is one who knows education is experience and the essence of the experience is self-reliance. Mrs. Cechnicki: An interesting student is one who has a good sense of humor and knows how to use it, has a brain and knows when to use it. He likes to do anything fun, challenging and different. Ms. Bakkom: All students are interesting, but the ones who dare to risk failure and have the courage to try again, to those I can give my heart. Mr. Brezinski: An interesting student shows curiosity and concern about knowl- edge. This person undertakes educational growth under acceptable behav- ior. He or she is not a trouble-maker nor a robot, but an individual with a personality. Caring leads to interesting and vice-versa. Any student who brings in apples and jokes is also interesting. For Auld Lang Syne . Jean C. Bakkom was born and raised in Zenda, Wis. She graduated from Lake Geneva High School and LaCrosse State College in Wis- consin. Her Master’s Degree was received at the University of Colorado and later graduate work was done at Tulsa University and the State University of New York. In 1953 Miss Bakkom joined the Woman’s Army Corps as a First Lieutenant. During her active duty tour she attended the Basic Officers Course, the Advanced Officers Course and Command and General Staff College. In 1964 Miss Bakkom left active duty but continued her Army association in the US Army Reserve. As a reservist she reported for active duty for two weeks each year in Washington, D.C. where she assisted in preparing a history of the Woman’s Army Corps which is scheduled for publication in 1984. In 1964 Miss Bakkom established her home in Sharon Springs and became a sixth grade teacher in Sharon Springs Central School. She has been a participating member of many school and community activities. In 1980 she was appointed to the Board of Fellows, Norwich University, Northfield, Vermont and in 1981 retired from the Army Reserve as a Colonel. The Seniors want to thank Miss Bakkom for her dedication to the teaching of the pupils at Sharon. She will be sorely missed but we wish her a well earned rest from the problems of the sixth grade. Boy’s State is an exciting experience, and is one that will remain with me for the rest of my life. Ed Buckley 78 We the Class of 1982 would like to extend a special thanks to our dear advisors Miss Lee and Mr. McClure. We really appreciate the help they have given us in our past four years in high school.
