Can I get in the safe?. . . Could I have a stamp?. . . Is Mr. Fitch here?. . .Can I have a ditto?... Do you have my card?. . . Can I use the phone?... Do you have . . . Celia Schondra There have been many people in the past from whom we have received much needed guidance and encouragement. However, one person in par- ticular comes to mind as always being there when we needed her most. Her efficiency has proved to be the cohesive force which holds the many facets of school life together. It is in utmost appreciation of her undaunted devotion that we, the class of 1978, dedicate this CLARION to Mrs. Celia Schondra. 2 STAFF Life is Like a Pond Sometimes it Sparkles With Sunlight And Sometimes it Doesn't And you Need A Few Good Friends in it Either Way 3 MR. FITCH As another chapter in your life is completed, you must now turn the pages and be ready for the next. We hope that we have given you the neces- sary backgrounds to help in making your future a success. It is now up to you to set your goals. You must make the decisions that will determine your future. Will you fail or succeed? A successful life is not always easy to achieve. With youth, deter- mination, and hard work as your allies, success will come. Bianchine, P Ullmari, E Ashworth, G. Salamida. Absent: N Hotalmg, T. Brown, Mrs. Lane — Advisor. Under the guidance of our advisors, Miss Joan Cappione and Mrs. Helen Lane, The Student Council had a very productive year. We started the year by sponsoring a fall dance at the firehouse and looked forward to several more dances in the spring. Once again our local representatives attended NYSSSSO, the state confer ence for high school students. In the light of last year's success, the collection of Campbell soup labels was held to acquire equipment for our use. A fun, meaningful, project undertaken this year was that of mural painting on the walls of our school. All in all it was a very active year. 31 NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY Our National Honor Society was started in the spring of 1977. Our first members were Kris Putnam, Nancy Nolette, Larry Clarke and Celina Bialt. Our advisors were Mr. Heinztelman and Mrs. Fairbanks. It was through the efforts and fortitude of the Student Coun- cil that the Honor Society came into exist- ence. Even though we have had a slow start we hope it will not discourage future members. We are sure as the Society grows and matures that we will be able to fulfill the ideals the Student Council had envisioned for us. Lett to Right: Mr Heintzelman, Kris Putnam, Celina Bialt, Nancy Noletle, and Mrs Fairbanks. 32 ANSWERS PLEASE ANSWERS PLEASE 1977 Celina Bialt, Marjorie Kiesel, Andrea Cousi- neau, and Charles McMann scored a lopsided vic- tory over Newcomb Central, 120-25, in their first appearance on WRGB's quiz show. Answers Please. Our second appearance was a heart- breaker against a tough Broadalbin team. The Sharon quiz-kids lost, 100 50. HIGH SCHOOL DAY 1977 Sharon Springs business education students scored an impressive victory against students from 55 other area schools, placing second in the annual High School Day competition held at SUNY Cobleskill. Sharon is the smallest school ever to rank among the top three schools in recent times. Sharon students winning awards were: Eric Ashworth, Brenda Baxter, Celina Bialt, Ron Black, Cindy Caponera, Nancy Chacho, Alan Clarke, Larry Clarke, Andrea Cousineau, Holly Fitch, Barbara Henry, Lori Jackson, Denise Jes- ter, Marjorie Kiesel, Rich Kisielka, Charles McMann, Nancy Nolette, Mary Lee Parsons, Brian Pettit, and Kris Putnam. We congratulate all the winners. 33 FUTURE HOMEMAKERS OF AMERICA Advisor: Mrs. Armandine Handy Mr. Douglas, advisor FUTURE FARMERS OF AMERICA JAZZ BAND 37 CHORUS 38 On the nights of April 28 and 29, 1977, the Music Department of Sharon Springs Central School put on the musical pro duction Lil'l Abner , this was the first musical put on in Sharon in a number of years.
