ffte 196S Gfarion Presented by 3 ie Senior Cj ass and Uhe G arion Staff SAaron Spr nys Centra ScAoo SAaron Spr nys, DC. 3 Dedication We, the Class of 1968, dedicate this yearbook to our class advisor, Mrs, Thelma Ward. We are grateful to her for the effort she has made in guiding and advising us throughout our high school years. Her patience which has been sorely tried at our somewhat riotous class meetings and perilous class activities has proved un- failing and admirable. She has encouraged our creative ideas and directed our enthusiasms and energies down the right path. We shall always respect her and remember her as the truly understanding and wonderful person she is. ADMINISTRATION Jjrincipa s m essaye The melody of a musical composition consists of a series of notes so played as to produce a harmonious tune. When at times these notes are discordant or off key. the entire musical composition suffers. In life each of your individual acts of behavior is a note and your life is the musical composition. The number and frequency of the incidents when your behavior patterns are off key will determine your status, your progress and your stature in the composition we call life. Will yours be a masterpiece or a dud? J) oar'd °f I ducat ion Left to Right, ROW I: J. Baxter, Clerk, R, Comrie, Pres., F. Kettler, Vice Pres. ROW II: K. Ernst, E. Mereness, D. Susi, A. DeLuca. During our freshman year our activity was a dance featuring WTRY's Lee Gray. Our freshman class officers were the following: President - Jotham Trafton Vice President - Carl Jackson Secretary - Jane Vernik Treasurer - Cheryl Kettler In 1966 Mrs. Hall and Mrs. Ward became our class advisors. During our sophomore year we had two activities - a dance featuring The Mercy Side Five in the fall and a dance in the spring featuring The Novas. Our sophomore class officers were the following: President - Jotham Trafton Vice President - Cheryl Kettler Secretary - Nancy Glenn Treasurer - Charles LaGuardia During our junior year we had a roast beef supper, a fun fair, a paper drive, a chicken barbecue, and a dance featuring The Aristocracy. Our junior class officers were the following: President - Jothan Trafton Vice President - Nancy Glenn Secretary - Carolyn Pinder Treasurer - Cheryl Kettler In our senior year we sold magazines and Christmas cards. We also had a fun fair, a paper drive, and a dance featuring The Russian Phone Booth. Some members of the class enjoyed parties that were given by classmates. One of our goals which some of the seniors looked forward to was our trip to New York City in May. Our Senior class officers were the following: President - John Acello Vice President - Donald Kane Secretary - Carolyn Pinder Treasurer - Jotham Trafton As we gaze into the crystal ball, we see the Class of 1968 ten years from now-- Roxie Caponera is now the celebrated writer of a nationally infamous news column-- I Like Gossip, Don’t You? She presently has 72 law suits against her. Mike Hartlieb is the holder of the world's record for celebrating an 18th birth- day 68 times in 1 month. He is also the proud owner of a useless and somewhat unhappy liver. Bill Hensel has given up the farm for a life of philosophy in Greenwich Vil- lage. (His followers are referred to as dang buzzards by the bearded educator.) Doris Wilday is an Olympic boxing champ. Wild Wilday has 72 1st round knock-outs under her (belt?). John Acello, a professional photographer, takes lustful pictures of trees and fire hydrants for Doggie World. Tom Baxter has started a scrap metal yard consisting of signs he has knocked down while flying happily and uncontrollably home from Mike's. Connie Van Dyke is now head of the Veterinary Department at the Institute of Biological Research in Staleyville. Marg Me Fee has the distinguished achievement of having rid society of 90 of the Hippies. She has done this by simply becoming one of them. It is rumored that Tim Empie is presently serving some time in Schoharie jail for stealing passes from the teacher's desks. Carl Jackson is one of the 10 Best Dressed Men in the country. His 25 pairs of flowered pants have an estimated value of $6.25. Reports have it that Don Kane has gone bad. Forestry just wasn't his bag. He now goes around drawing mustaches on pictures of Smokey the Bear. Nancy Glenn is now a commercial artist and an arch enemy of Don Kane. Nancy draws posters for the State Forestry Department. Ken King now owns 327 Corvairs. They are barely enough to keep him in spare parts for the one he's using. Joe Trafton has been fired from a leading New York law firm because of his refusal to stop wearing sneakers. Ken Parsons is in the Air Force stockade for road racing up the barracks steps at a recent party. Carolyn Pinder was recently spotted leading a group of guerrillas into North Vietnam. Donna Trafton is missing somewhere in the South Pacific. She embarked on a world cruise the day after graduation and hasn't been seen since. Kathie Istle, due to her unusually powerful voice, has been recently hired by the Board of Education at S.S.C.C. to maintain law and order during class meet- ings. Cheryl Kettler has achieved international fame as ward robe co-ordinator for America's first woman astronaut. Reproductions of her colorful space mini-dresses are the newest thing on today's fashion scene. Ellie Shelmandine was recently elected president of the Sharon Springs Booster Club and rules the organization with an iron hand. Jean Pettie and Jane Vernik have long since left Sharon and, to the best of our knowledge, have never returned. Rumors state that they both are still leading exciting lives of romance. But when the final hom sounded, Sharon had a solid season behind them. Our season started with a non-league loss and then it was win, win, win, in- cluding a win over league champion Cobleskill. From this point on, the team built up a seven game winning streak. Throughout the season Sharon was a proud league leader. It took the top spot early in the year and held tight. As the season came to a close, Sharon was still in first place. But it had to share first place with another league power—Richmondville. The championship was decided in a playoff. It was an exciting game, though Sharon bowed 62-61. It was a year of records, namely Joe Susi's record of 45 points in the Milford game. Joe's hot hand branded his name in the county record books. This year went with seniors, §_ juniors, and 2_ sophomores. This year’s losses will be Joe Trafton and Tim Empie. As for next year, the future is bright. Everyone may expect Sharon to be a solid contender! oMon IVAN VAN SCHAICK SON, INC. SHULT’S MOTOR SALES INC. Yours for easy heating Blue Coal Mobil Fuel Oils AT 4-2216 70 W.
