M U S 1 C J)eyinniny J)ancf Senior Jiancf Out Senior Band presented on November 13th a program in observance of American Education Week. This year our representatives to All-State Area Band at Frankfort, N. Y. on November 15th and 16th were Lynn Shockley (’65), soprano clarinet, Pamela Cummings ('65), alto clarinet, and Theresa Duto (’66), bass clarinet. The Beginning Band is intended as a stepping stone to Senior Band. The students actually begin their private study in July and they continue for eight weeks. At the end of this period, those who are capable are informed that they may continue studying their instruments. At the start of the fall semester, the Beginning Band is then formed with those students who have been accepted for further study. The major project of Senior Chorus was the Christmas portion fo Handel’s oratorio, The Messiah. Soloists were Darlene Kettler, (’65) soprano, Nancy Forsthoffer, (’65) soprano, Jeannette Cousineau, (’65) alto, and Paul Kling (’64) baritone. Paul, Jeannette, and Darlene were also representatives at the All-State Area Program held at Frankfort, New York. This is a select group of twenty-five girls from grades nine through twelve. The Robed Choir made their debut at the December second P. T. A. meeting, at which time they sang several Christmas numbers. Junior Chorus, an intermediary group, provides members with an opportunity to deve- lop their vocal technique, so that they can qualify for Senior Chorus. The Elementary Chorus is composed of students in grades one through four, who dis- play an interest and a talent for singing. This year, the group's big project was a Christmas operetta given on December 19th in association with all the students in grades one through four. Playing the leading roles were Mark Winne and Lathie Ullman. Goacn Doia We, the Clarion Staff of 1964, would like to dedicate this page to our coach, A1 Doig, whose understanding, skill, and preseverance are the backbone of our athletic program.
