1963 CLARION Dear schoolmates, ever loyal, true, and faithful, Gathering 'neath the Maples on the hill. With courage, faith, undaunted for our future - As we older grow, we love thee, still. The Purple and the White shall wave forever, Keep this emblem ever clean and bright, Oh, may the glorious folds be sullied never - Love for aye the Purple and the White. All hail to thee, our dear old Sharon, Open wide your portals to the right - Still o'er the field of conflict ever waving. Float for aye the Purple and the White. SHARON SPRINGS CENTRAL SCHOOL DEDICATION We, the class of 1963, wish to express our sincere gratitude to our class advisors, Mrs. Hall and Mr. Fitch. They have been an inspiration to us all and have guided us through high school in preparation for our future. As a token of our appreciation we dedicate this yearbook to them. These congratulations, however, are even now tempered with the advice that further education and training are the keys to the job frontiers of the future. Advancement and opportunity will belong to the skilled. It behooves you, therefore, to dedicate yourself to the continual improvement of your mind and of your native skills so that through the conscientious application and development of your specialities you will enable yourself to survive the current competition for employment. It was in that year that our school years began. Those first eight years were full of fun and excitement. We all looked forward to the day when we would start high school. FRESHMAN YEAR 1959-1960 In 1959 we started our Freshman year with Mrs. Abbadessa as our homeroom teacher. We had our class election and the following officers were chosen: President----- Vice President Secretary----- Treasurer----- Anthony DiPace • Richard Wilday Sarah Doolittle ----David Cross We had just one activity this year and that was a semi-formal dance in May. SOPHOMORE YEAR 1960-1961 Our officers in our Sophomore year were: Anthony DiPace George Papadi - - Elsie Herman ---David Cross President------ Vice President Secretary------ Treasurer------ During our Sophomore year we had two activities, a Sadie Hawkins Dance and a spaghetti supper. Just before the middle of the year Mrs. Lynk took Mrs. Abbadessa's piace as our homeroom teacher. Mrs. Abbadessa left because of a new arrival in her home. After mid-term exams of this year, Mrs. Hall became our official homeroom teacher and advisor. JUNIOR YEAR 1961-1962 Our officers in our Junior year were: President --------------------------Anthony DiPace Vice President --- ---------------------Marilyn Button Secretary --- - ----------------------Sylvia Trafton Treasurer---------------------------------David Cross Our Junior year was busier than ever. Mr. Fitch became our co-advisor. We had many projects in our Junior year. We had an election night supper and sold candy the first half of the year. During the second half we sold cards, had bake sales, and record hops whenever we could. Our most outstanding project was the Junior Prom. Everyone had fun working on this project. The theme was Stairway to a Star. There were so many things we could do with this theme we just couldn't seem to spend enough time on it. I don't think any of us will ever forget it. SENIOR YEAR 1962-1963 The following officers were elected: President--------------------------- Anthony DiPace Vice President---------------------- Marilyn Button Secretary--------------------------------------Elsie Herman Treasurer -- ------------------------- David Cross Our Senior year has also been busy. We had a car wash, a Sock Hop, a supper, a Sadie Hawkin’s Dance, a Semi-formal Christmas dance, and many record hops. We also sold Christmas cards and magazines. Our Senior year is well on its way and the next goal we're looking forward to is graduation. We are both proud and honored to have been students at the Sharon Springs Central School. We would like to thank everyone who has helped us reach our goals; the teach- ers, Mr. DeLuca, the people of Sharon Springs, our parents, and most of all Mrs. Hall and Mr. Fitch. We only hope that we have made Sharon proud of us. All of us will now be going out into the world to reach our own goals, but we know that through the education we got at Sharon we can reach them. NURSES CLASS WILL We, the class of 1963, being of sound mind and body, do hereby designate this as our last will and testament: I. Paul Borden, will my social studies homework to anyone who thinks high school is a breeze. I, Danny Brown, will my walks to and from school to Irene Meyers. I, Marilyn Button, will my blond hair to Ernest Winnie. I, David Cross, will my pickup truck to Alice Maring so she can really get around. I, Tony DiPace, will my way with the girls” to Doug McKitten. I, Margaret Everidge, will my overwhelming height to John VanHeertum. I, Elsie Herman, will my experiences in seventh period study hall to Janet Meka. I, Bill Hoetzer, will my place on cloud 9 to anyone who thinks he is big enough to take it. I, Pat Howe, will my overflowing energy to Joyce Trafton. I, Jackie Moeckel, will my wool skirts and sweaters to Phil Zeller. I, Andy Olson, wi'.l my hot car to Barb Butler so she can sleep late and still make it to school on time. I, Helen Paris, will my dark naturally cur'y hair to Paul Kling so he can attract all of the girls. I, George Papadi, will my handsome face and winning smile to Jeff Siebel. I, Bruce Silvers, will my driving ability to Barb Williams. I, Jim Smullen, will my freckles to anyone who doesn't have enough of his own. I, Sylvia Trafton, will my friendly disposition to Paul Nikolaus. I, Elaine Wilday, will my gift of gab to Charles Nikolaus to add to his already sufficient amount. I, Dick Wilday, will my big feet to Lois Hatalsky. I, Bonnie Zeller, will my horse to Paul Schondra and Hank Galley so they can start a horse ranch in Leesville. CLASS PROPHECY Let's take a look at the Senior Class ten years from now. In 1973: Paul Bordon has a large dairy farm with 639 Holstein cows to keep him busy. Danny Brown is head of the Newspaper boys' Union; he now drives his green Stude- baker to deliver his papers. Marilyn Button is the lead alto at the Metropolitan Opera House, but she is worried because her voice is changing. David Cross is still jumping center for the Sharon Springs Varsity; the team is going to be top in the state this year. Tony DiPace is head mechanic at his exclusive garage. He works only on Ford-made cars. Margaret Everidge is happy on her exclusive, luxurious estate in Hollywood, Califor- nia, and doing a fine job as wife and mother to her seven little angels. Elsie Herman is now known as Elouise Hermanson; she is the lead dancer in a group of Norwegian Dancers traveling across the country. Bill Hoetzer is still growing; he is trying to outgrow the Empire State Building. Pat Howe has 10,000 sailors under her control; she is the first woman admiral in Naval history. Jackie Moeckel is armed with a seven inch hypodermic needle in the new Sharon Springs Infirmary. Andy Olsen is working hard at keeping his Oldsmobile running and his girls happy; they take all his time. Helen Paris is medical secretary for one of those city hospitals. That special some- one is sick most of the time so he can be with her. George Papadi is a promising young lawyer; he took lessons from Perry Mason and he is always promising. Bruce Silvers has just rediscovered Dr. Jekyll's secret formula and is presently in the testing stage. Jimmy Smullen is helping Paul Borden with his 639 cows. Jim does the milking. Sylvia Trafton was secretary to a business executive; now her name is Mrs. Business Executive. Elaine Wilday and her millionaire husband are cruising around the world looking for a place to set up housekeeping; Elaine just can't make up her mind. Richard Wilday is teaching agriculture at Sharon Springs Agriculture College. Bonnie Zeller has built the largest horse ranch in upper southwestern Argusville. Mrs. Hall and Mr. Fitch are still teaching school at Sharon and they still haven’t seen a better class than that of 1963. George Tony Bruce Jackie Jim Paul B.
