Text from Pages 1 - 64 of the 1962 volume:

1962 CLARION Dear schoolmates ever loyal, true and faithful. Gathering 'neath the Maples on the hill. With courage, faith, undaunted for our future - As we older grow, we love thee, still. The Purple and the White shall wave forever. Keep this emblem ever clean and bright. Oh may the glorious folds be sullied never - Love for aye the Purple and the White. All hail to thee, our dear old Sharon, Open wide your portals to the right - Still o'er the field of conflict ever waving, Float for aye the Purple and the White. SHARON SPRINGS CENTRAL SCHOOL DEDICATION MR. MILLER We, the Class of 1962, wish to express our sincere grati- tude to the teacher who, with kind understanding, has guided so many students through not just four years of high school English, but all aspects of high school life, and into college. As a token of our gratitude, both as a class and as indi- viduals, we dedicate to you this 1962 yearbook. rl Administration “Ours is the only country deliberately founded on a good idea.” . John Gunthtr y. PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE In talking with parents, we find that many of them consider their children to be one of their best investments. Parents protect and de- fend this investment with their energies, their finances, and even their lives. In their attempts to protect and develop this investment and to assure its perpetual growth, parents have supported an educational sys- tem to assist you as a student to develop your maximum potentialities. As a student, therefore, you owe it, not only to yourself, but also to your parents, to avail yourself of every opportunity to grow and develop into the kind of adult who will bring honor, pride, and joy to those whose devotion has meant the expenditure of time, money, and effort. Your progress report is the dividend you pay your parents. It is your means of rewarding those who have faith in you. Are you as a student yielding a satisfactory return for the unselfish and tireless efforts your parents make in your behalf? What kind of investment are you? N Spencer. BOBBY GREEN is now a world-renowned lady-killer. At the moment. Miss Universe and Miss America are battling it out for his affections. JANET HILLER is now a lead soprano at the Metropolitan Opera House. She knocks them dead with her high E. SUSAN LYNK has recently married the science professor of U.C.L. A. He is patiently trying to teach her how to do simple calculations. HARRIET COLLINS is happily married and is busy raising a family of little mathemati- cians. KAY WASHBURN is following in her father's footsteps and is mayor of Sharon Springs which, under her brilliant leadership, is rapidly turning into a thriving metropolis. JEANNE FAY is now married to her fifth husband. It may be just a coincidence but they have all been elderly millionaires. RAYMOND LAMBERT has been chosen Husband of the Year by the National Women's League. He is the most hen-pecked husband we know of. RONALD LAMBERT now is making $10, 000, 000 a month as the newest teen-age idol. The girls are flipping all over the world. Go, Ronnie, go. JOYCE VAN HEERTUM recently completed the designing of a line of high-fashioned duck hunting clothes which she models herself. EDNA BARBRIC is now managing several R. R. shows touring the country. She has a performance in everyone of them. SALLY McMANN is now married and is presently living on a Marine Base in Tennessee. Her hobby is throwing wild Marine Parties. WILSON MANCHESTER is still chasing a cute little Italian chick from New York. While he is patiently waiting for the big day to arrive, he is managing his two hundred head dairy farm near Sharon. THOMAS BROESTLER has received his honorable medal of: Mr. Playboy of the Ages. Watch out for him, girls. He’s a handsome one. RICHARD BOMGREN has been elected to the position of Governor of New York State. His project for this year is to raise the salary of every teacher in S.S.C.S. one penny.
