ALMA MATER Dear schoolmates ever loyal, true and faithful. Gathering 'neath the maples on the hill, With courage, faith, undaunted for our future - As we older grow, we love thee, still. The Purple and the White shall wave forever, Keep this emblem ever clean and bright. Oh may the glorious folds be sullied never - Love for aye the Purple and the White. All hail to thee, our dear old Sharon, Open wide your portals to the right - Still o’er the field of conflict ever waving, Float for aye the Purple and the White. Sfaviott (Zentnal School 'Tfetv ecUcatc K For many happy school days Mrs. Mabel Lewis, Mrs. Emma McFee, and Mrs.Marquerite Smith have guided students at Sharon Springs Central. Their smiles, understandings, and helpful hands have developed many young child- ren into community-building adults. Each school year has been enriched by their desire to make school days at Sharon eventful and educational. Numerous class plays, con- tests, and class projects have passed under their watchful eye making well-rounded educational days for each student. To pay respect for their years of devoted service, the class of 1959 dedicates to them the 1959 Clarion. H. Ullman, C. Collins, and T. Collins M. Brown and E. Chamberlain B. Howe, E. Larkin, T. WASHBURN is helping the Class of '69 earn $5,000. Our class history begins in the year 1947. It was in that year that we be- gan our school career. The first day of school was filled with confusion and ex- citement. Our first day at school will be long remembered by all of us. As the days went by we made new friends, and began to enjoy coming to school. Just as we will remember our first day in school, we will also have mem- ories of each and every one of our teachers from first grade through high school. FRESHMAN YEAR 1955 1956 The years flew by like leaves from the trees and before we realized it, we were freshmen. The officers of our freshman year were: President...................................JAMES LAMBERT Vice President.................MIK1 FUKUMOTO Secretary......................CHERYL COLLINS Treasurer......................MARY LOU ULLMAN Our only activity during our freshman year was a roller skating party. SOPHOMORE YEAR 1956 1957 The officers of our Sophomore year were: President...................... MIKI FUKUMOTO Vice President ------------------BARBARA CROINEX Secretary...................................JAMES LAMBERT Treasurer......................MARY LOU ULLMAN During our sophomore year our two activities were a skating party and a dance. At the end of each year, we eagerly awaited the next year. Dave Crandall and Rosemarie Byalick joined our class during our sophomore year. JUNIOR CLASS 1957-1958 Our Junior year opened up with many surprises. Our official teacher, Mr. Elliott, left us for a job in New Jersey, so Miss Stern and Mr. Washburn took his place. With their help, we successfully finished the year with a larger sum of money in the bank. JUNIOR YEAR 1957-1958 (continued) Our Junior class officers were: President — -------------------- - JA MES LA MBERT Vice President — - - - -------------- GAIL SILVERS Secretary..........................MIKI FUKUMOTO Treasurer.....................MARY LOU ULLMAN During our Junior year, we were busier than ever. We had bake sales ev- ery two weeks, gave record hops, sold candy, had a supper, gave a roller skat- ing party, and even created our own Fun Fair. One of the outstanding points was that the whole class co-operated in our various projects. There are three outstanding projects that we will long remember. They are: The Junior Prom, the Junior Play, and the Minstrel Show. We also had the honor of presenting our Minstrel Show to the patients at the Albany Veter- ans Hospital. Our Junior year was the busiest of all years, though all of us had fun work- ing towards our goal. History played a repeat performance when we lost Miss Stem at the end of our Junior year. SENIOR YEAR 1958-1959 From our Freshman to our Senior year we were as busy as bees. Our am- bitions were put to work. Our goal was to make enough money for our Senior trip, which would be here before we knew it. Our Senior class officers were: President - -- -- -- -- -- -- JA MES LA MBERT Vice President - -- -- -- — - -- GAIL SILVERS Secretary - -- -- -- -- -- - MIKI FUKUMOTO Treasurer - -- -- -- -- -- MARY LOU ULLMAN Our Senior year is finally here, and our goal has finally been reached. Graduation is our main concern now. June will be an important month for us. We are both proud and honored to have been students at Sharon Springs Central School. We only hope we can make Sharon proud of us. All of us have our own goals to reach, but we know that through the education we’ve received at Sharon, we will be able to reach them. Judy B. Gail S.
