'?n WST??:'W?3 f75?f'3'3L'5:L7r?:?7 T'f7' - , r ' 'ww w SENICJR CLAS S HISTORY As we turn back thepages of our history book we find that on Sep- tember 4, 1945, a group of 17 proud and smiling faces walked up the stairs at SHS to join the nupper four.n At the beginning of our fresh- man year we enrolled four new students: Helen Bollinger, Kenneth Coun- tryman, Ruth walley and Betty Young. In March two more new students joined our ranksg Dorothy Lee and Barbara Extrom. During the first month we elected our class officers: ,Marie warren, president, George Hertel, vice president, Howard Nehlig, treasurer, Betty weeks, secre- tary. Our class advisor was Miss Herried. We started our sophomore year withl8 members. Albert Long dropped from our ranks and during the year 3 new students joined us. They were Barbara Minot, Barbara Floyd, and Kenneth Miller. The members of our class elected Ruth Walley, president, Kenneth Countryman, vice presi- dentg Helen Bollingen treasurer, and Betty Young, secretary. Our class advisor was Mr. Kane. On September 2, 1947, we started our junior year with 19 members Barbara Minot and Barbara Extrom left our ranks for.different schools and so did not start our junior year with us The members of the class elected Howard Nehlig, president, Marie Warren vice president, Betty Weeks, treasurer, and Barbara Floyd, secretary Under the direction of Miss Board our class turned the gymn into a beautiful ballroom for the yearly prom Our theme was NThe Gay Ninetiesn with Howard Neh11g,K1ng, and Marie Warren reigning as Queen of the gala affair At the beginning of our senior year Kenneth Countryman joined another school, which dropped our enrollment to 1B Our class officers were Dorothy Lee, president, Dick New, vice president, Betty Young, secretary, and Barbara Floyd, treasurer Our class pictures were taken early in the year Our first step toward graduation was taken in February when we selected our class colors, motto, and flower The colors are maroon and white, with the white rose as our flower, and the motto is Ulet the steps of knowledge fonn the stairway to success JkQikMLQ:LMk'l!k!xS!l:S!!aLU'.!!A!MLQ1!Q:'5U.kU1kM. .!!'5!fL!!
