Principal ot the High School Superintendent ot Schools The public school is everywhere--in city, town, and hamlet, on the open prairie, perched on canyon sides. Its doors are open to all. In the public school, children learn devotion to the flag, respect for law, admiration of our great national heroes, and a knowledge of the nation's struggles for independence and freedom. ln the public school, children learn machinery of govern- ment in community, state, and nation. They learn their rights and duties as citizens. C. M. Musser The public school ofthe United States in its be- ginning and growth has been the greatest practical instrument for free men in this hemisphere. lt must always remain the most important source for teaching the basic concepts of our constitutional form of gov- ernment. lt must carry on in the never ending battle against ignorance and ill will if it is to survive. lt is a tremendous responsibility for educators to maintain and to increase the esteem which this great enterprise holds among our people. If this nation hopes to in- crease its power for good in the world, it must cher- ish and strengthen its most powerful asset-educa- tion. S. N. Currier Assistant Principal ol the High School lf our nation is to solve our most dangerous problems, if we are to achieve universal prosperity and security and if we are to keep from destroying ourselves by our inventive genius, we must, through education, develop our reasoning powers and knowl- edge to a far greater extent than ever before. Out of the educational system we must build an under- standing of human relationships which we have not possessed up to now. Will the historians of tomorrow look back upon this generation and write of oppor- tunities used or lost? A. P. Wildman 7

Board of Education The Board of Education is composed of seven members elected by the citizens of Sharon to regulate and maintain the educational standards of our school district. The Board is obliged to execute the school laws passed by the State Legislature, and, with the skillful cooperation of Mr. C. M. Musser, Superintendent of Schools, promotes a program of learning that is difficult to ex- cel. Among the several duties of the Board are the construction of the school budget, the collection of taxes, the maintenance of the buildings, the expenditure of school funds, and the em- ployment of properly qualified personnel. To this group of public-spirited men we are deeply indebted for the educational programs and high standards which they have made available to us. Through the sacrifice of their time they contribute greatly to the transition of Sharon youth to cap- able adulthood. 6
