im — A foreward Graduating from Sharon High School has been a goal we have all sought to achieve. It is about to become a mem- ory. Therefore, the staff of the 1985 Marsengold hopes that this yearbook will capture the essence of the past four years in order to keep those memories alive. n The class of 1985 was not an ordinary group of students. From day one of our Freshman year, we let the entire school know that we were not just another d isoriented group of ninth graders. 3 4 Freshman year — Getting used to the school. “Where’s the pool?’’ Pep Rally, what’s that? Were we supposed to make posters? Nobody told us about any Home- coming Float! Senior attacks with squirt guns . . . But we don’t want to carry the senior’s trays! “Beware of getting flushed . . . Santa Claus comes to town again. Awesome Talent Show! S§ ; Prom Panic . . . “What kind of outfit should I get?” What color? Will he remember my cor- sage? What’s a boutonniere? What table are we sitting at? r P.S.A.T.’s, S.A.T.’s . . . “Who got an 800 in math?’’ Where did all the honors courses go? NO MORE SILENT STUDIES!! Senioritis sets in early! seniors 85 Remember . . . proms and class day? Graduation . . . Can it be over so soon? We’ll always remember good friends and special times. Although we have to leave, the spirit of ’85 is alive and will endure in our memories forever. Senior year at last! ' mCm k • ■ ? 2 , 1 , 1 rV - B K i dedication We dedicate this yearbook to the fulfillment of our individual dreams. While graduation is an end of one dream, it is also a stepping stone towards the achievement of others. Though dreams differ from per- son to person, we all realize that none of our dreams will be achieved without some sacrifice, some setbacks, some questioning of pur- pose. If the dreams are truly worthwhile, we know that they will go beyond a sense of self towards a larger sense of community. Over the past four years, we all have changed, and we will continue to change as we grow, our dreams changing with us. Because of change, most of our dreams probably will never be realized. Perhaps the important thing is not the achievement of our dreams, but that we continue to dream. 52 appreciation We, the class of 1985, would like to extend our gratitude to Jean Conley for all the work she has done on behalf of our class. From the time she assumed her role of advisor at the beginning of our sopho- more year, she helped us with our class events and activities. She was never reluctant to give up any of her time. She was always available for advice; she was more than helpful. She went beyond the duties of an ordinary advisor and became our friend. For this we are extremely grateful and wish to show our thanks to our advisor and friend, Jean Conley. The pink, grey, and white color scheme set a romantic mood as the band, Champagne, entertained the class of ’85 and their guests. Heather Keefe, who was selected Prom Queen, presided regally over a court which included Michelle Parker, Rachel Elkind, and Lauren Coill. All were presented with a bouquet of roses by the class. To top off the evening, guests were invited back to the Community Center for an all night party spon- sored by a number of civic organizations. homecoming 85 Stephanie Pavlakis was elected the 1985 homecom- ing queen. Her court was composed of the following seniors: Rachel Elkind, Michelle Parker, Janet Sha- piro, Marcia Silverstein, Tracy Tattleman, Brenda Walsh, and their escorts. The Sophomore class won the prize for the best float, overcoming strong com- petition from the other classes. The Class of 1985, having the greatest number of students in atten- dance, won the prize for the most spirited class. It was a homecoming the seniors will long remember. 63 junior class officers and planning board Junior Class Planning Board: (from left to right) Bottom row: Lisa Catherall, Stacey Polikoff, Eileen Loeb, Linda Hoffman, Leigh-Ann McNair, Stacey Epro, Joanne Hunt, Samantha Bryant, Jill Kaplan, Julie Gaines, Merideth Haymes. This event got off to a rousing start with the film ‘‘The Bride of Frankenstein” but it was the parade of the classes that received the most enthu- siastic response. The seniors, with 68% of the class in costume, won the most spirited award. The Sopho- mores were the best dressed class. In addition, a number of individual prizes were awarded in the cata- gories of scariest, funniest, ugliest, most original, and best dressed. A be-witching time was had by all. 149 thanksgiving pep rally “Everybody run!
