Sharon High School Yearbook 1984 anaron Literary Bharon. Mawacfcuwtw Sharon High School Library Sharon, Massachusetts foreward We hope that this book will capture the thrills, the heartbreaks, and the frustrations that a student experiences during the formative high school years. We, the editors of this years Marsengold, have tried to include an insight to the true life happenings of the students during these all-important years. We would not possibly depict all the trials and tribulations of each person, but we do hope that this Marsengold will help you to recapture the events of high school. So, in the years to come, when you flip through these pages, we ask you to think of the laughter, friendships and good times of your high school days. i seniors 84 We Came . . . September 1980, the class of ’84 took its first step into Sharon High School, the threshold of adult life. Do you remember that first day? . . . w y “Let s walk down the 200 s and check out the seniors ...” When I get out of the eleva- tor, do I take a right or a left to get to the pool? . . . “Do I have to say, ‘It’s okay’ when I go to the lav? . . . seniors 84 We see ourselves during junior year . . . working toward our goals ... a new advisor . . . class spirit prevails at the Valentine Day Dance . . . considering colleges, careers . . . . . . planning the prom . . . bands, photogra phers, places, favors, food, and most impor tantly, dates . . . “What do I wear?” . . “What kind of corsage do I get?” . . . seniors 84 Can you ever forget? . . . . . . taking PSAT’s, SAT’s, achievements? . . . college propaganda bombarding us . . . going to our last class day ... the imminence of becoming seniors . . . looking forward to leaving . . . seniors 84 We Conquered SENIORS!!! ... we finally made it ... we rule the school ... the yearbook is ours ... the Sharon High Times has class of ’84 editors . . . the eye opener and candy store are our domain now . . . senior spirit prevails . . . Deciding our futures . . . college bound? . . . which schools? . . . “Can I get in?” . . . “Will I get in?” . . . April 15 . . . Thin envelopes; RE- JECTION . . . thick ones; anticipation; sigh; AC- CEPTANCE!!! . . . decisions . . . decisions . . . decisions seniors 84 . . . senior fever sets in . . . parties . . . parties . . . and more parties . . . homework? What’s that? . . . “books? They’re in my locker!” . . . “freshmen carry my books” . . . HOW IRONIC . . . Things sure have changed . . . A Could you ever forget? . . . . . . going to our senior prom . . . dancing at our class night . . . spending time with friends . . . looking forward to leaving . . . seniors 84 Graduation . . . caps and gowns . . . tears and roses . . . smiles and hugs . . . CONGRATULATIONS! . . . thank you’s . . . pasts to remember . . . futures to live for . . . “the further back you can look, the further forward you are likely to see” . . . could you ever forget? . . . . . . the good times ... the good friends . . . and the goodbyes . . . keeping the special memories . . . receiving your diploma . . . and wishing we didn’t have to leave . . . Our future is an open door. And once again we are standing at its threshold. Now we see that it is not so much where we stand, but in what direction we are moving . No matter where we come to, we can look behind us and see that we, the class of 1984, have conquered Sharon High School, but have yet to conquer our lives . . . ... If our friendship depends on things like space and time, then when we finally overcome space and time, we ' ve destroyed our own brotherhood. But, overcome space and all we have left is here; overcome time, and all we have left is now. And in the middle of here and now, don ' t you think that we might see each other once or twice? 19 seniors 5 20 Senior Class Planning Board Senior Class Officers: Seated — Michelle Guy; President, standing — Diana Peltz; Secretary, San- dra Gould; Vice-President, Bonnie Briggs; Treasurer. Not only did they teach us academics, which will help us in our careers, but they also taught us about ourselves, which will help to enrich our lives. So it is with gratitude, pride, and reverence that we dedicate the 1984 Marsen- gold to the faculty of Sharon High School. APPRECIATION The class of 1984 would like to thank our advisor who helped us create this yearbook. For all the work, time, and support he gave to us, we extend our appreciation to Mr. Frank Bryant, yearbook advisor. Without his efforts we could not have created a yearbook which is a true representation of the fine school we have found Sharon High to be during our school years. senior superlatives 1. Most Talkative: Paula Pearlstein and David Pearlstein senior class day Even though there were no rays to catch at Horseneck Beach, the clouds did not darken our class spirit. Everyone shared in the fun and enthu- siasm remained high as we packed up and left for Lincoln Park to make the day complete. Lori Leven homecoming The snap of fall was in the air and on the field, as the Eagles faced the Panthers. The cold weather and lack of a Sharon victory failed to put a chill on this 1983 Homecoming. A great deal of work went into the floats with the spectacular efforts of the Juniors winning the day. Presiding over this excel- lent display of school spirit was Homecoming Queen, Marianne Smith, her escort Eric Green- idge, and her court. Although the preseason pundits prophe- sized a second place finish at best, the Eagles went 13-3 and were Tri-Champions of the Hockomock League, along with Foxboro and Stoughton. The team also faired well in tournament play as they ad- vanced to the quarter-finals of the State Tournament. The Eagles led by captains Michael dayman, Paul Newman and Chris Tietleman along with returning letter men Glynn Lloyd, Marc Schwab, Craig Gains- boro and Andy Goloboy are ready for the challenge of the 1984 season. Linder the seasoned coaching of Basil Cronin, and the aggressive playing of Captain Kathy Outlaw the girls team completed its 1983 season with a winning record of 8-7. Lyman ended the 1983 season with a 8-2 record and an ERA of 1.20, while Belle finished with an average near 390. Dave Feldman, Jeff Cohen, and Craig Her- son made important contributions to the 1983 sea- son and will play a big part in ’84. He joined a wide variety of people including jugglers, magicians and soldiers engaged in down to earth demonstrations. There was plenty of fabulous French and Spanish food served in authentic surroundings. Over eating may have contributed to the defeat of the faculty in a spirited volleyball game with the students. A day to remember. halloween dress up day Once again the seniors had the most spirit but the Freshmen had the numbers. But winners or losers, the school full of ghost, goblins, monsters and “who-knows-whats” got together and had a good time! V 160 thanksg ally pep iving r There was a smile on Tim Sullivans face and pie on Doc Blanchon’s. There was plenty of spirit in the cheer leaders routines and posters and ban- ners everywhere. And if spirit could have set the tigers on their tail, the Juniors had it. 162 Page 164-165 1. Beth Zola 2. Ken Marcus 3. Diana Peltz 4. Jeanne O’Brien 5. Jeff Kaplan 6. Heidi Hiltz 7. The message it bears is eter- nal. Under the skillful direction of Carlyle Newton and the dedication of the cast and crew, it proved to be a rewarding production. Kevin Tyler was the omniscient narrator; and Robin Nabi and Josh Eisenthal brought poignancy to the roles of the starred-crossed lovers. administration Photo 1: Dr. John F.
