Each year, as graduation approaches, the senior class reflects upon those events, those experiences, and more importantly, those individuals who have played a part in their years in high school. Bearing this in mind, we wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Richard Kennedy, our class advisor for the past four years. He was with us in 1 970, when we were freshmen, desperately trying to find a place for order in a planning board of fifteen youth- fully enthusiastic members; he was with us in 1971, advising and quieting a planning board of sophomores caught up in their own rhetoric. Mr. Kennedy was there in 1 972, helping us turn the class into a viable economic unit. He has been with us more than ever this past year, helping us with the Prom, Class Night, and gradua- tion exercises. Together we have endured the consequences of, and taken pride in our departures from tradition; a decision to withhold class elec- tions and do without officers until our Junior year; a decision to change the design of the class rings; and a decision to have a Jun- ior Class Day, which turned out to be one of the most memorable experiences of our high school years. Therefore, in appreciation of his support, his enthusiasm, and his devotion, we dedicate this, the 1 974 Marsengold, to Mr. Richard Kennedy. The Class of 1 974 3

In every school there ore good teachers, but the truly outstanding ore quite rare. We, at Sharon High, ore lucky enough to hove been blessed with two of the truly outstanding. Miss Dorothy Chase and Miss Dorris Newton have both recently retired after dedicating most of their lives to teaching language at Sharon High. Between them, they have spent almost ninety years here — forty-six for Miss Chase, and forty for Miss Newton. We, the Marsengold Staff, feel that this kind of exceptional service and dedication cannot go without thanks. We, as one of the last few classes to have had the pleasure, opportu- nity, and privilege to have been taught by Miss Chase and Miss Newton, wish to express our gratitude, and symbolically, the gratitude of the many classes before us, who have so greatly benefited from their talents.
