When we last left Sarsha and Rudolph, they were happily making their way to school, oblivious to oncoming misfor- tune. Little did they know they would lose each other — but, of course never their love. So, dear reader, get your handker- chief ready as we turn to the everlasting tale of “Sharon Place.” I Bong! The lovers are stunned by a surprise fire drill . . . no . . . bomb scare! no . . . fire drill! . . . bomb scare . . . whatever! Into the smoking area they run, only to lose each other in the smoke, ‘‘cough! cough.” ‘‘Where is my oxygen mask?” cries stupid Staker. “Where is my Sarsha?” cries Rudolph and thus embarks on his fateful search for Sarsha through the depths of exciting Sharon High School. ... to the Gym 89 Rudolph finds the Junior Misses deep in practice, “Have you seen Sarsha Collins?’’ “I couldn’t say,’’ whispers the elegant sparkling Miss Junior, as she dances “The Tom Jones Twist” to “Backtield in Motion “How many points would I get it I knew?” “Oh my poor Sarsha.” to the Home Economics Room 90 1 ! il I! 1,1 I I i i I I “Dear Mabel, have you seen my love Sar- sha? “I ' ve seen no one. I’m too busy measuring these seniors tor their caps and gowns. Why don’t you ask the kind doctor?” “Oh Doc, have you seen Sarsha?” “Don’t you know what time it is? Don’t you have a pass? Don ' t you have to be in a class right now? Do you realize the penalty for this?” Pleading “No comprendo, no hablo Eng- lish,” Rudolph runs off to find Sarsha. 91 1 I I “Have you seen my love Sarsha? cried Ru- dolph. “I have seen the red ball on the picnic table ... I have seen 200 students become vi- olently ill before an algebra test ... I have heard the buzz of the ear-phones . . . And I have seen the scale . . . But, I have not laid eyes on your love.” “Tell me, why do you hide behind this bed.” “You see the doctor there?” He thinks he’s giving me a mumps shot. Little does he know he’s sticking it in a yard stick.” “Good bye” ... to Guidance 92 Oh counselor Barrels, pinnacle of knowl- edge, you have always given me good advice. Tell me now, where could Sarsha be?” Sarsha? I believe it’s on the west coast. But you’ll never get in. Apply to U Mass.’’ No, not a school, my girl Sarsha!” Well if you insist; fill out these forms and I’ll send them to the school. 93 f i; i; ■t ii: In desperation, Rudolph runs down the hall in search of Sarsha. There he is caught by a teacher’s aide in one of her newest wardrobes. “Where is your pass?” No pass? Get a pass from your last teacher to go to the office to get a pass to be here to get a pass to go where you want to go.’’ “All right,” agrees Rudolph, as he turns in the opposite direction. ... to the Cafeteria 94 “Can his love be here annong the flying milk cartons and spilt macaroni? Alas! “Oh Sarsha . . “Oh Rudolph , . And so we find the lovers together once more. Even the walls of Sharon High School cannot keep their love apart — for love has no boundaries. Tune in next week for the continu- ing story of Sharon Place and find out what happens when Sarsha can’t find Rudolph.
