Providing Training in Manual Arts The Industrial Arts Department provided students with training in the basic skills of using hand tools and small machines. Students were given a chance to dis- play their talent in woodworking. Those entering secretarial fields attended classes in office skills, typing and stenography. The Art of Good Homemciking The addition of a new faculty member to the Home Economics Depart- ment made possible the introduction of new programs. In addition to the practical arts of sewing and cooking, both Mrs. Eames and Mrs. McGarr introduced consumer education, handcrafts, and knitting.
