Understanding The How and Why SCIENCE Through new discoveries and new applications of old dis- coveries, science today is of great importance in helping man to understand the how and why of life. Here at Sharon High, the Science Department gives students the incentive to join in this advancement of humanity. Through the ef- forts of the science teachers, students in Sharon can obtain a closer look into the causes and effects of the world which surrounds them. HOME ECONOMICS In the Home Economics Depart- ment, the skills necessary for tomor- row's wives and homemakers are taught and practiced. Nutrition, meal-planning, child-care, grooming, and home furnishing are only some of the practical arts taught besides the usual subjects of dress-making and tailoring. Mrs. Eames, in striv- ing to make her courses both inter- esting and fruitful, has succeeded in making Sharon High's Home Econo- mics Department much more than a glorified sewing circle. INDUSTRIAL ARTS Both minds and hands are occupied in the In- dustrial Arts Department, where the skills of mechanical drawing, wood-working, and metal- working are taught. The fundamentals of draft- ing and the use of basic tools are practiced by the students, and the results of long hours of painstaking preparation and study can be seen in the bookcases, coffee tables, hi-fi's, and pul- leys which are created here.
