Sallutcltozfy We, the members of the Class of 1945, salute you. We are going out this evening, leaving these familiar surroundings and associations, to take our places in a strange new world-a world torn by war and destruction. We advance forward to meet the needs of a suffering, starving, and sorrowing humanity. And as we ascend the ladder of life, we know that somewhere there is a place for each of us. Also that there will always be work for us to do. So, we go out courageously to find our places, and to take up the work that awaits us. With God,s help we will ascend this ladder of life, and will look upward and not be afraid of what the future has to offer. EMMA PEOPLES, ::'SalzLta1f0ri:z11. :EEDITORJS NOTE: At the time the annual went to press, Emma Peoples was Salutatorian Whether this will be final, we will not know until the end of the year.

Voz l6l6lZ.CZ01'Dl Tonight marks a great milestone in the lives of the members of the Senior Class of 1945. We have arrived at a long-hoped-for destination, that of beginning a new part of life. The future life will be a much harder one to live. The endeavors during our high school year will be reflected in our new life. As we reach this point in our lives we suddenly discover that the senior year which we looked forward to so much is at an end. We have regrets of leaving our dear school, but we find ourselves headed toward a higher goal. The world calls each of us. Where to, we know not. Many of our classmates will soon be serving our country, and others will be doing smaller things that are equally important to our life structure. With the millions of other people our age we will work hard, hoping to emerge in a few years into a world of human tranquility and mutual co-operation among nations. I We must remember and practice the high ideals which we have been taught, and teach them to the world around us in the way of equality which is engulfing the world in a second great reformation. We must be strong and loyal to ourselves, our country, and our God. Thus with these simple convictions with education to carry out its ideals, we bid farewell to the school we have loved so well. Nevertheless we will carry in our hearts and souls a part of Sharon High School. Yes, tonight is truly the beginning and the end. The end is over. At the beginning there is a fork in the road of life. We can take the old road and continue war and privation. We can take the new road and head straight for a new world of peace among nations and firm economic and political structure. Starting tonight, we make our decision, and may it be the only one worthwhile in our fast advancing civilization. MARJOREE CHAPMAN, V aledictorian.
