Senior Clam 1711310131 In the fall of '41, forty-eight timid, wide-eyed freshmen -entered Sharon to continue their studies. After the two factions from Woodlawn and Sharon Elementary Schools had time to get acquainted, the girls elected Louise Gift, president, Margaret Cook, vice-president, Bette Courtney, secretary, and Nell Wright, treasurer. The boys chose Mac Elliott for their president, Bill McGarity, vice-president, and Paul Cook, secretary and treasurer. The girls, under the supervision of Mrs. Walton, presented a play, Men Not Allowedf, The cast included Mary DeArmon, Louise Gift, Dorothy Godfrey, Mar- garet Cook, Marjoree Chapman and Emma Peoples. At the same time the boys presented The Feed Store Mysteryv under the leadership of Mr. Boyd, their home room teacher. Their play won first prize. Included inbthe cast were: Jim Coley, Bill Lutz, Bun Baker, Jack Price, Bill Houck, Mac Elliott, Robert Bell, Calvin Griffin, and Bill McGarity. Our freshman year ended with a sigh of relief. When school started again in September, our places were filled with others that we could look upon as- just freshmenf, The boys and the girls were in the same home room this year with Mrs. Paschal as our home room teacher. Frances Shiver was elected president, Bill McGarity, vice-president, Louise Gift, secretary, and Paul Cook, treasurer. Vfhen we returned for our junior year we elected Bun Baker, president, Jack Price, vice-president, Bette Courtney, secretary, and Carolyn Kiser, treasurer. The Beta Club tapped five of our classmates. They were as follows: Louise Gift, Marjoree Chapman, Emma Peoples, Charlie Kauffman, and Harry Newman. Soon after this we started planning our Junior-Senior banquet. In order to finance the banquet, we put on a magazine selling campaign. Everyone took part and work diligently for two weeks to boost it. Finally we went over the estimated goal. Then the great night came. The boys were dressed in tuxedos and the girls in evening dresses. The banquet was held at the Myers Park Club. Jack Paschal's orchestra rendered the music. The grand march was led by the officers of both classes. Gradeparents and teachers were invited. There was great excitement in our class when we received our rings. It was the first time at Sharon that the rings were received in the junior year. We had many parties during the year, which most of the class attended. The King and Queen of Sharon came from our class. They were Bun Baker and Nancy Smith. The marshalls were Marjoree Chap- man, chief, Louise Gift, Emma Peoples, Carolyn Kiser, Harry Newman, and Bob Tathwell. The first ofiicial action of the senior class was to elect Jack Price, president, Ann Kiser, vice-president, Bette Courtney, secretary, and Harry Newman, treasurer. Miss Paxton was again our home room teacher. This year the Beta Club tapped three new members from our class. These were Ann Kiser, Virginia Price, and Conard Caldwell. Ralph Mulford was chosen as editor of our annual and Charlie Kauffman as the assistant editor. A festival was given by the P.T.A. at Christmas and we all had a wonderful time. With a sudden shock we realize that our high school days are over. Gnly a few more days separate us from the time when we shall have completed a definite era of our lives. We shall always look back on these years with pride and feel that this time spent at Sharon has given us a large part of the foundations upon which we shall build the rest of our lives.
