' : ' . .0 A - u :l ','4 X ',....4 if r V -- HI TORY I THE MAKING ln the fall of 1946 on a very specral mornrng seven lrttle boys and grrls woke up feelrng exerted and eager lt was the very frrst day of school for them They humed and washed theu faces and hands whrle therr mothers frxed therr breakfasts and told them the do s and don ts for the day Then they were marchrng up those huge grade school steps besrde those brg thrrd and fourth graders They plcked out a desk and sat very quretly unt11 school started Then the lady took roll call Karen Wrrtjes Dranne Snavely Patty Booth Bob Cole Wayne Wrlhelm Larry Slrck and Beverly Johnson were all srttrng rn therr desks They learned the teacher s name was M1ss Hmders They learned how to read and prrnt and soon they found themselves berng met by M1ss Sturtevant the second grade teacher Durrng therr second year frve more lrttle playmates came to Shannon Therr names were Charlene Flack Donny Tempel Carol Schrader Lorence Ludwrg and Johnny Warner Before long they advanced to thrrd grade here they were taught by Mrs Bornamerer M1ss Carol Wrrtjes was therr teacher rn fourth grade and M1ss Harrret Byers was therr frfth grade teacher Gene Bass Jorned them rn frfth grade teachers Mr Scovrlle trred to teach them hrstory the hard way Then came the1r dream year They were frnally erghth graders after all these years of wartrng Betty Gerdd came from South Dakota and now they would have fourteen rn therr class The thnll of gettrng therr erghth grade drploma was now over and now they found themselves rn a new burldtng as freshmen It was sure a change all those books and partres and of course 1n1t1at1on The sophomore year came lrke a lamb rn a snow storm The frrst thrrll was over and rt was routrne work now Goshl Iumors already Davrd Hartman and Becky Davrs were one of the group now They sure were busy that year As thrs senror class of 1958 registered for therr brg year Sharon Garman Jorned them for a truly great year Yes the frnal year at S H S rs here at last In a mass of con fusron and a flow of tears twelve years frnally rolls to an end The years have been pleasant and memorable Each w1l1 go hrs separate way but no matter how far memorres wrll strll wander back to the class of 1958 not knowrng that a smrle has curved therr lrps .
