After dropping anchor, we began to get accustomed to the new school routine. At first we were treated as small frys, but in a few months we con- vinced the upperclassmen we weren't as small as we seemed. The following officers were elected: President, Gloria Lamberg Vice President, john Cernyg Secretary, Dorothy Chauby, Treasurer, Jim Bell. The class flower chosen was a white rose, class colors, were green and whiteg class motto, Not finished, just begun. The few activities we had and enjoyed during the year were: stands at a football game and a basketball game, a dance and initiation. During the year we lost a few of our members, who either quit school or moved away: Edna Mae Costella, Donald Hill, Georgetta Leppert, Andrew Serbin, and Shirley Travis. fiom Dawjn Y I 46 JUNIOR YEAR 1952-55 Three months passed by and before we knew it we were at school again ready to do more work. One of our first activities was initiating the sophomores. The big event took place in the evening of October 16, 1952, when Frank Colo and Elizabeth Morris were crowned king and queen. Everyone cooperated in making this dance a success. 6' We waited and waited and waited and finally we got them - our rings. They were to have arrived by Christmas but were delayed. Happiness reigned when we received them. We put on our class play, Grandad Meets A Pal, in April in the Community Building. The attendance was great and the spectators seemed pleased. In May we held our Junior-Senior Prom. The theme represented a Garden Scene in Paris. Music was furnished by the Freddie Elwood Orchestra. A large crowd attended and everyone enjoyed a pleasant evening. Kenneth Arble, Isabel Bahme, Lelia Grace Eckman, Betty Gilhousen, Betty Yanik, and Betty Marshall left us this year. Our officers were: President, George Varhola, Vice President, John Bell, Secretary, Sylvia Chobodyg Treasurer, john Vicini. SENIOR YEAR 1953-54 We were back again for our senior year. Many of us were sad since it was our last year and others were happy. The following people did not come back after our summer vacation: William Ath- erton, Aldo Bleggi, George Fleming, Helen Kespelher, Audrey Sebastian, John Young, and l.eota McMaster. Most of them ,moved away while a few quit. Claribell Ctisman was transferred to our class from Dayton Joint High School. The senior class play was held November 24, 1955, in the Community Building. It was a hillbilly comedy, A Feudin' Over Yonder. During football season we had a few dances and a few stands at the games. This helped to increase our funds. Instead of a Mid-Winter Formal this year we had a New Year's Dance which was semi-formal. Music was furnished by Joe Smetana's orchestra. Everyone who attended had an enjoyable evening. The following were the officers elected by our class: President, Robert Fletcherg Vice President, Chris jablunovskyg Secretary, Avalyn Rearickg Treasurer, john Cerny, Historian, Sylvia Chobody. The yearbook staff worked very hard in putting out the yearbookg let us hope ev- eryone is pleased with it. A dance was held to reduce the cost of the annual as well as a stand at the Bell Township basketball game. As we think back to our school days, we recall Class Night, Baccalaureate, and CQommencement as memorable events. XX'e will never forget the good times welve had in the good old school. We are very proud to say that we were graduated from Shannock Valley Senior High School. 346 .Mgbd .NOIIOP5 SALUTATORIAN john Cerny g i Q , ,g VALEDICTORIAN Gloria Lamber g., 3., firm ,. 1 X' Martha Patterson George Vnrhola Donna Schrecengost R b Leota Wlmiterzuan Margaret Firment D - st S J7i35ss 4' fffff ,ft X 3, - - .-1.4-.t -4 4 2,1 at 1, - i tfffef f W miwqqfff -...sh gm: it ' Winifred Hihy Raymond Fisher . -YN. If Susan had known what a sensation her good looking mother would cause when she hit that college, she'd have wailed even louder. Abby's reason for going to college with her daughter is hard economics. She's used up most of the insurance that her husband left for her, and there just aren't many opportunities for an unskilled widow. The only way she can afford to keep daughter Susan in school is to take ad- vantage herself of an unusual but most generous scholarship. Right at the start she's met by a deep freeze from the Dean who suspects that this is just a practical joke or publicity stunt. The Dean as good as tells her that the slightest infraction of any rule will give him the excuse to expel her. On top of that, she has a terrible time with her main course-zoology. The likeable professor delivers his lectures looking right into her eyes. No wonder she's flustered. CAST OF CHARACTERS Mrs. Abigail Abbott-a widow ........ ....
