Sept. 10 Registration finally took place after three long months! Sept. 12 Father Durkin offered Mass to start the school year. Sept. 13 That makes a record of five! Fargo bowed 13fO. Sept. 20 Knute stays another year! The Deacons eked out a 7f6 victory over St. Iames. Sept. 27 Chalk up another win for the Deacons-Devils Lake 27f6! Cct. 6 guigone and only defeat of the year-lost to Jamestown in a 'iGame of Prestige 11 Shack made its initial appearance under its new editors. 13 Queen Pat Rush reigned over our most important social event of the year-Home' coming! Mass, a parade, a victorious game with Wahpeton and the dance, rounded out the activities. 20 State-We're on our way! Walsh County bowed 33f7. 27 The Eastern crown is ours! Defeated Valley City 34112. Nov. 9 First nine weeks exams started! 10 Strained our brains again today to get good marks! 11 Bad weather cancelled State Championship game. 17 The boys ducked as the girls took over at the annual Sadie Hawkins Dance. 21 The second issue of '!Shack kept the students busy today. 12 Despite bad weather the hayride Went off in great style. 22f27 Much to the sorrow of all concerned school closed for a short Thanksgiving vacation. 27 Voice and piano students presented a recital in the assembly this evening. Dec. 1 The new Shanley gym was successfully initiated with a 41f17 victory over Park jan. River. 8 New Southside Sodalists were received in an impressive ceremony at St. Anthony! 13 17 19 19 27 29 church. Most Valuable Player award went to Pat Colliton this evening at the Quarter' back Club banquet. The Shanley hoopsters made a successful trip to Wahpeton, downing the Wcips 4746. The noon hour was spent reading the third issue of Shack.l' The Glee Club! presented a Christmas Cantata in the Sacred Heart auditorium. Blue and silver decorated St. Anthony's gym for the annual Snoball Formal, sponsored this year by Shack. Our coach, uSid, was chosen '!Coach of the year. 4 Shanley received its new occupants with open arms today at the end of the Christ' mas vacation. 5 Dedication services were held this evening followed by a victorious 3665 game with Fargo High. 7 Beautiful bouquets of flowers generously donated by friends decked the halls of 12 19 22 2124 2727 30 Shanley for the open house held this afternoon. Wahpeton gained revenge 3983 on the Deacons on the Shanley court followed by a very successful initial dance held in the new cafeteria. The Red and White took it on the chin again, this time from lvloorhead 59451. A noodle hot dish marked the opening of the new cafeteria under the manage' ment of Mrs. Alan Carolan. Brains were racked to find the answers to the puzzling questions in our semester exams. Basketball was forgotten as our annual retreat was held in the gym. Voice and piano students again combined their talents to present a recital this evening. 1631

Alumni Trustees George Noonan and Mrs. T. E. Stoa, both of Fargo, have been elected to the board of trustees. They will fill vacancies left by the death of Dr. George M. Denis and the inability of Mrs. Tintes to hold both the office of treasurer and trustee for the organization. Holdover trustees are: Mmes. E. G. Hughes, Lou Misclne, Ray Chisholm, Pargog Albert Sinner, Cas- selton. More than anything else, the Alumni are proud of the expansion of their pro- gram to include a retreat for the members Sunday, January 28 and a lecture on the Apparation of Gur Lady as related to world peace by Mr. Breen of the Scapular Magazine, Tuesday, March 13. Both events were well attended and a very great success. The Alumni feel that this brings them closer to the objectives they had in mind when organizing the Alumni Association. Alumni were hosts to the last senior class of Sacred Heart academy at its annual communion breakfast for graduates and annual meeting of the Alumni association on May 28. Breakfast was served in the town Hall of the Gardner hotel following mass and communion in St. Mary's cathedral. The annual meeting of the alumni association and election of officers followed. Monsignor Arrell and Father Arth were guest speakers at the affair honor' ing the graduating alums. Monsignor Arrell urged all graduates to join actively in the alumnae. He also spoke of the possible necessity of changing the name of the alumni association because of the opening of the new Shanley High school. Father Arth spoke to the students about the big part their Catholic educaf tion will play in their future plans. A Mrs. Grchard, executive secretary, welcomed the graduating seniors and outlined the activities of the Alumni organization during the past. Feb. 2 Chalked up victory No. 2 in basketball over Fargo High for the season tonight 54-42. 6 The Northside Sodality sponsored a Preflenten Valentine Dance in St. Mary's 8 Clubrooms. The Shack blossomed in the halls of Shanley again today. 11 In a beautiful ceremony at St. Mary5s Cathedral new members were received into the Northside Sodality. 17 The Deacons were downed by a fighting Devils Lake team 4767. 15' The Academy auditorium was the scene of a recital presented by Shanley music pupils. Mar. 1 Mass in the gym opened vocation month. 1f3 Eastern tournaments were held with the Deacons capturing fourth place-not 7 7 enough to go to State. The Exchange Club held a banquet in honor of our Deacons this evening. Alpha Honor awards were presented to six senior students in ceremonies held in the gym. 10 The first games in the GAA tournaments were held with the Juniors downing the Seniors and the Freshmen triumphing over the Sophomores. 12 Another banquet was held for the team, this time sponsored by the Kiwanis. 16 18 The best edition of Shack to date made its appearance today. The music pupils of Shanley presented a- concert of Sacred Music in the Acad' emy Auditorium. 1957.0 Exams are here again! The class tournaments were held also, with the election of I ai next year's cheerleaders. Classes were over at noon today to start the Easter vacation. The juniors captured first place in the final game of the GAA tournament, held in the gym. Mar. 25 A group of Senior girls kept their tradition of eating Easter breakfast together 26 27 29 30 Apr. 2 as they enjoyed a luscious meal in The Barn of the Frederick Martin Hotel. The Squires put on a very successful Easter dance in the K. C. Hall. Still a little weary after a busy vacation, the students plodded back to their classes today. And they're off! Itls our track team starting practice! The Shanley girls looked fresh as daisies in their many colored cottons at the Gingham Ball. Barb Kelly and john Connelly were crowned Queen and King Cotton at this event sponsored by i'Shack. The Junior Class had the students creaming in terror with its presentation of l'Tiger House , a mystery chosen as their class play. 3 Southside Sodalists received membership pins at their meeting this evening. 8f9 11 27 28 May 9 16 18 20 Student Council Convention. Bright, gay spring formals and beautiful corsages added to the beauty of the Top of the Mart at the Frederick Martin Hotel, the scene of the DinnerfDance sponf sored by the Annunciation Sodality. The Seniors presented l'Murder in a Nunneryu at Festival Holl, N.D.A.C. Cur track team participated in a meet at Grand Forks. The Juniors presented the Seniors with a wonderful Prom, held in the spacious Shanley gym. The sixth and final edition of i'Shack came out today. The staff has done a wonderful job, and we would like to thank them. Senior Honor Day was held today with everyone going on their merry way after Mass in the Chapel. The Alumni held a breakfast for the Seniors this morning after attending Mass in a body at St. Mary's Cathedral. .Ba T ball. 1'01V1. N-s 'i .
