The surroundings were quite strange, but we soon caught on to the new at- mosphere. Most of our students took part in the school activities, such as F. F. A., F- H. A-, band, student council, and others- Some of our boys even started playing basketball. August 25, 1952 found only forty-three sophomores assembling under the direction of Mrs. Orlidge. This year students took part in chorus, band, F. F. A-, F. H. A., student council, basketball, cheerleading and others. The high- light of our sophomore year was the day the anxious students were measured for their class rings, even though we knew we would have to wait until we were juniors in order to receive them. Twelve months later found us happy and energetic juniors- This year was highlighted, first of all, by the receiving of our class rings. We also con- tributed to the Christmas holiday by sponsoring The Peppermint Ball. Spring found many juniors working on the class play. f'Teen Times, which was a great success. In May we were all anxiously making preparations for the junior-senior prom. lNe didn't forget about the school activities for the jun- iors took part in F. F. A., F. H. A., chorus, band, student council, basketball and the school paper and yearbook staff- Only thirty-two students entered the senior class on September 20, 1954- This year every senior was in one or more activities in school. The first big high-light of our senior year was the day our pictures were taken. Another big day was when we ordered our name cards. The next big event was the Snow Frolic, on December 18- VVe looked forward very much to the senior class play in March. Even though June 7 was still a long way off, all the seniors were beginning their plans for the senior trip- We were all sorry this was our last year at Stonycreek. 21 CLASS WILL We, the class of Nineteen Hundred Fifty-five located in room 207 of Shanksville-Stonycreek joint High School, in the County of Somerset, State of Pennsylvania, in the United States of America, do publish this as our last will and testament. Luella NValker wills her Senioritis to anyone who can control it- Jim Duppstadt wills his singing ability to Charles Miller. Fred Glessner wills all his free time in study hall to Henry Veil. Mona Lea Hillegass wills the editorship of the Chicahonian to any junior who has too many study halls. Marilyn Livengood wills her driving ability of clipping telephone poles to anyone who can miss them. Don Zeigler wills his place in room 203 to any- one who can get back to room 207 before the first period bell rings. Don Knupp wills his ability to get along with girls to Bill Bowers- Cherie Lou Emerick wills her seat at the piano to anyone who has eyes on all sides of his head. Mary Ann Reiman wills her bangs to Mr. John Miller. Lou Ann Sorber wills her place in the marching band to anyone who can keep up with the Marines. Patty Schrock wills her seat in room 207 to anyone who can keep his books from sliding oFf the desk. Lois Weyant wills her back seat in history class to anyone who can use an extra study period each day- Pauline Long wills her ability to pay attention in P. O. D. class to anyone who can do a better job than I- Nadean Custer wills her seat in Driver's Training Class to anyone with a driver's license who has enough patience- Earl Zerfoss wills his brains, quietness and all his front seats in 207 to Lee Lowry. Patty Stull wills her twelve study halls to anyone that can use them better than I do. Harry Slope wills his position as ash boy for Eddie to Fred Zerfoss. Barbara Mosholder wills her position as editor of the Viklet to some capable junior with a lot of time. Glenda Snyder wills her physics book to anyone who can understand it- Claude Duppstadt wills his height to Donald Browning. Lester Coslic wills his ability to keep out of trouble in history class to Margie Bowers- ,lay Cassidy wills his studying ability to Beverly Veil. The meeting place is the auditorium of dear old Shanksville-Stonycreek High School- The first one to greet me at the door is Bill Brant. Bill tells me he is now a big rancher in Colorado, and is married to the former Mary Spangler- Well something was bound to come out of the school romances and Mary Ann Reiman and Leroy Miller proved just that- Mr. and Mrs. Miller own an oil field down in Texas and are the proud parents of seven girls. Don Knupp, my old friend at the Somerset Pine Grill, comes over to chat with me, and goes on to tell me the name has been changed to Knupp's Pine Grill. Next, approaching me with the words Chitwood's Daredevils on the back of his jacket, is Fred Glessner. Fred says he is demolishing a good many l ords in a year's time- . Pretty Cherie Lou Emerick, a.dietician at the Johnstown Memorial Hos- pital, planned the lovely chicken dinner for us- Who said none of the SS seniors would become movie stars? jay Cas- sidy is playing the role of Hopalong Cassidy, and is now talking about his latest picture Six Guns- Lou Ann Sorber is now getting ready for the Miss America Contest. Lou Ann is representing Lambertsville, and after that will become Mrs. Clair Mussel'- Dalton Foy, now the olwner of Foy's Butcher Shop in Shanksville, do- nated the chicken for the dinner- Dinner is ready! The former Luella VValker, a proud mother of four children cooked us our lovely dinner- NVhoever said Secretaries always marry their bosses said the truth. Barbara Mosholder finally talked her boss into marrying her- Glenn Brant, owner of Brant's Lazy T Ranch of Wyoming, is planning to retire after his last round up in August- Lois Weyant, a beautiful blond airline hostess for United Air Lines is going to take a trip around the world in the near future- Harry Slope, now a United States Naval Officer, is making the Navy his career. What is this, a wedding announcement for all the class?'Patty Stull has invited us to attend her wedding next Sunday when she will become Mrs- Roy Humbert- Earl Zerfoss has just signed a four year contract to manage the Mil- waukee Braves Baseball Team. Earl is planning to lead them to the sixth straight win in the VVorld Series- Patty Schrock and Pauline Long, two of the. best typists that graduated from Stonycreek High School, are private secretaries to two of the tbig shotsl in the F- B. I- in Washington- Don Zeigler, as manager of the Harlem Globetrotters, still Ends time to spend with his wife the former Alice jean Glessner. Speaking of cops, Lester Coslic, now a Pennsylvania State Policeman has just been promoted to sergeant and is now head of Somerset Police Barracks- Mona Lea Hillegass, now a graduate nurse, has just become the new president of the Won1en's Nursing Organization throughout the world. Alfred Onstead is now playing his bass horn for Howard Barlow's Voice of Firestone Orchestra- Charles Olson and Calvin VValker, both airplane pilots in the Air Force are now teaching a group of young men how to get out of an airplane in case of emergency- D Lovely Olive Mae Nibert is now the superintendent of nurses in one of the largest hospitals in the world- Marilyn Livengood tells me it is awfully nice to get a big kiss from her husband, jim Ogline, every morning when he leaves for work- jim Wetzel is now a radio announcer for one of the largest radio com- panies n the world, VV- V.
