XVAi.kr:a September lfl47 Dear Diary: XVe're off! to another nine months of' school. XVe've collected our books and pencils to start our first year in high school. All thirty-eight. of us made our presence known by participating in many of' the school activities. The cheerrleading squad collected seven ol' us. The basketball team had four of our boys on the junior varsity group. The class was also well represented in Band. Chorus, llaton Club, and others. September 1948 l l il How time flies! XVe are now the sassy sophomores. This year we are again represented in the school activities. lfour of' our classmates belong to the basketball team. The F.H.A. and F.l .A. attracted many of us. Five are cheer leaders. nine were in the Band. and the Chorus boasts six tenth-graders. One day we saw many rings being put on and taken off of' different fingers. This was the day we were measured for class rings that are to be delivered at the beginning of our junior year. XVith the assistance of' Mr. Orlidge, we glided through another successful school term. August, 1949 Diary: Time marches on! XVe are now the lively juniors. Late in September we received our gleaming class rings. To begin our junior year the band only claimed six members. while the chorus in- creased to twelve. ln basketball. Paul Reese helped to make up the Varsity Five, while Richard Kimmel and XVilliam Landis were substitutes. Glenn YValker played with the lay Vees. Doris lVilt and Kathleen G. XValker were varsity cheer leaders. Richard XVilliams was student manager for the basketball team. April 20-21 we presented a three-act comedy by Gene Neal entitled, Lindy Lou. The play turned out to be a success. One of the biggest events of the entire school year was the junior-Senior Prom on May lil at the XVhite Star Hotel. YVe, the class off lfl5l, played host to the Class ol' lfl50. Dick Alohnson and his orchestra provided the music. Mrs. lf. Lowry, our advisor, helped us over our problems to another successful year. August l!l50 My Dearest Diary: Success at last! Now we are the dignified seniors. ln late August, everyone noticed the laces of the twenty-two smiling seniors. This year Diane Duppstadt and Lee XValker were in the All-County Band. Lee was also in Central-XVestern Band. Diane Duppstadt and .janet Long were in the All-County Chorus. Patil Reese, Glenn XX'alker, and XVilliam Lan' dis played varsity basketball. Richard XVil- liams is again student manager, while Kath' leen G. XValker and Doris XVilt are varsity cheer leaders. Diane lJlllJlJSl2lCll represents our class in the student council. Betty l,ou Knupp is our head maiorette. This year the band has six senior members. and the chorus has nine. This is the lirst year ol' the Shanskville-Stonycreek joint School Board. XVe have not been able to include all the things we wanted in this annual but we were limited in our plans by many things over which we have had no control. The costs ol' engravings and printing have increased so tremendously we had to put special effort to secure extra advertisements to help pay for this issue. thus limiting our space lor write-ups and pictures. XVe have followed the theme ol' the Vikings ol' Scandanavia lrom whom the various school activities got their names. The sketches depict some scenes from the lives ol' the vaunted Norsemen, who were great warriors. XVe wish to thank everyone who has patroniled our yearbook and helped to make it a success. Sophomore Class History By SHIRIFY Gnssox This is the spirit ol' the class ol' l95El taking you by the hand and leading you through the Cavern ol' History. Going through the first room ,we find the class ollicers seated around a table where they are discussing class activities. They are the president.. Shirley Gibson: vice-president, Audra Frye: secretary, Dean XValker3 treas- urer, Shirley Zerfoss. The other thirty-two members are in groups, playing games and running about from room to room. The four junior varsity cheer leaders are l.orraine lValker, janet Miller, Mona Fried- line. and Irma Sclnnucker. They are in a small alcove, trying out some new yells. The junior varsity basketball players, Roy lloyd, Clair Kimmel, XVayne Kiehl, and Verlyn Young, are working on some new plays. They are also getting some pointers from our varsity basket- ball player, Clair Musser. In the next room. by a flickering candle- light, the Future Farmers ol' Atnerica and the Future Homemakers ol' America are having a meeting. They're planning to go to the Farm Show in Harrisburg. Many of our class members spend a lot ol' titne in the room we are about to enter. Our twelve band members are sitting on the ground floor with stalagmites lor music stands. They are playing Old Zip Coon, and the fourteen chorus members are singing. Roy Boyd and Edward Onstead. who were in Cen- tral-lVestern Chorus, sing a duel. accompan- ied by Shirley Gibson, who was in the Central- XVestern Band and All-County Band. The All- County chorus members are practicing, too. enior Kfdifif N Q 'N K Y - m g, x Q5 , . . , ,. . . , , . ,, lvuf lum' l'lgum' NIJIAIIII. xxlllllll l'l'1Illl'l', kg1lI1l1'e-11 R.
