Primary duties of Shangri-La's Navigation Department are many and varied. The de- partment maintains an accurate plot of the ship's position using astronomical, visual, electronic and other appropriate means. Members of Navigation Department must study all available sources of navigational information concerning the area before enter- ing pilot waters. Preparation of the Deck Log, the Captain's Nightbook and the Quartermaster's Note- book are among the responsibilities of Nav- igation. In the precise, meticulous field of navigation, Shangri-La's department is truly professional. DIVISIO On the Bridge, CDR Mark E.
