Hlllllll FARMERS After school started in September the F. F.A. elected its chapter officers. In October we had Greenhand Initiation, a dance, and a Carnival which was held open to the public. In addition to these activities we also had a hayride and Weiner bake. In February we put exhibits for National F. F.A. Week. In March we held a joint banquet with the F. H. A. The day after the banquet we sent two delegates to a Regional meeting at Soledad. On March the 27th we were represented by Dennis Crouthers in the Sectional Public Speaking Contest held in San Luis Obispo. On March 31st our Parliamentary Procedure competed in the Sectional Contest held at Cal Poly. On April 3rd we entered Packer Field with a Farm Mechanics team, and placed fifth. I ln May we entered three teams in the state finals, they consisted of a Farm Mechanics team, a Beef Judging team, and a Dairy Judging team. The week after the state finals we had three delegates to the State Convention. After the Convention we entered the King City Fair with five steers. F. H.A. stands for Future Homemakers of America.. Any pupil taking a homemaking course in high school may participate in this organization. The purposes of this organization are to promote: Appreciation of the joys and satisfactions of homemaking, worthy home membership, democ- racy in home and family life for all, international good will, development of creative leadership in home and community life, wholesome individual and group recreation, and interest in home economics. The Shandon Chapter of F.H. A. has gone to the state meeting in Asilomar and has participated in the section meeting that was held in Santa Barbara. At the section 9 meeting in Santa Barbara, Jean Cook was elected Historian for section 9. Emily Colvin was elected State Editor of the F. H. A. newspaper, The Nuggett . PARK CLEANERS R. C.
