N 4. RWARDS IRISH GUARDS This year's basketball activities were exciting and fairly successful. We had a few casualties from which we have all recovered. Of the accidents received, the broken foot claimed by Connie Lewis is considered the worst. There were a lot of charlie horses, but the worst was received by Charlene Coe. Molly Mayfield's knees looked like she played ball on them instead of her feet. A sprained foot was received by Julia Holmes while practicing one day. As the buses left the school for out of town games players were always in hurried confusion trying to get collected and get the inside seat. Everything from fights to talking and singing were re-inacted on the bus and Coach usually let us be until we got too bad. It always seemed to be a lot of fun to ex- plore the gym trying to find the dressing rooms. Joretta Upton was first dressed and Jenny Ford took up time giving encouragement and thus managed to be last. If the game was won, the referees were always the best ones yet, if we lost, well, they weren't so hot. After the boys' game, the girls pile into the bus, exchanging memories of some silly stunt pulled during the game. The girls were always sitting single until the boys arrived and remedied the situation. Many were quiet on the way back. With some it was fouling off, with others it was because of some missed Shot. But the Irish Lads and Lassies always managed to climb over their disappointment and fight harder at the next game. We are hopingfor an even more successful year in the future both in pleasure and faithful playing.
