4-H Club THE PLEDGE I PLEDGE My head to clearer thmkxng My heart to greater loyalty My hands to larger servxce And my health to better l1v1ng For my club my commumty and my country THE OFFICERS The 4 H Club has twenty enrolled members thxs year Several of the boys have pxg projects Mr Smlth the county agent obtamed these p1gs for the boys We had several outstandmg members ln 4 H demonstrat1on work the past year Patsy Redford and Mary Matherly won a tr1p to St1llwater and gave a demonstrat1on Correct Llghtmg for a Study Desk m the Home plac1ng fourth m the State contest Marlon McFadden also gave a demonstrat1on Home Pasteurlzatxon of M1lk at the State contests wmmng s1xth place ln the State Near 1400 boys and g1rls competed 1n these contests Paul Ray Taylor showed a fat hog at the county fat stock show He placed second 1n the heavywelght d1v1s1on Paul Ray sold h1s hog for f1fty cents per pound wh1ch was consxderably over market prlce A number ot the younger boys and g1rls won blue and red r1bbon placmgs 1n the County contests The tr1p w1nners of future years come from these Jumor members who gam experlence by show1ng stock and competmg 1n the County contests Lewls Ledgerwood Mar1on McFadden Patsy Redford and Mary Matherly at tended the Skelly 4 H camp on the Verd1gr1s R1ver th1s Summer Th1s tr1p 1S awarded boys and g1rls who have done outstandmg work ln 4 H durmg the past year Several of the members obtamed ch1ckens through the Drumrlght Chamber of Commerce th1s year The poultry show IS held every Sprmg 1n Drumrlght when the 4 Her'sexh1b1t pens of broxler ch1ckens The ch1ckens are sold and from the sale payment 15 made for the flock wh1ch the member keeps The annual achievement d1nner IS to be held at Kellyvllle on February 17th At thxs d1nner awards are glven for outstandmg achlevement m some partlcular phase of 4 H such as food preservat1on so1l conservat1on and use of electr1c1ty ln the home The 4 H falr exhlbxts were very good th1s Fall Mary Matherly took several blue r1bbons on her food preservatlon and preparat1on exh1b1ts as well as wmmng a slze able sum 1n cash 4 H g1rls also exhlblt at the annualcake and egg show held at Drum rlght 1n March The offxcers for the year are Charles Lamrd presldent Patsy Redford v1ce pres1dent Mary Matherly secretary and Wayne Bowerman song leader Mr Gruggs and Mrs Oldenstadt are sponsors ll J 1 1 ' w n ' - 1 n ' I . . . yy . . , . 1 1 , .
