enior Class History In September of 1941, a small band started out on the long road of education. We have met many who have stayed with us for awhile, then coming to a crossroad, have turned and gone on their way, always leaving us many fond memories and a smaller band to travel on until now our journey is almost at an end. Of this small number, a still smaller number remains to finish this part of our journey. Those who are with us now and who started out in the first grade are: Annette Bach, Edward Carter, Nadine Carurhers, Rosetta Finney, Eddie Melton, Billie Smith, and Stanley White. Miss Eula Butler was our first leader. We struggled through a few new and strange lands, such as reading, writing, spelling and arithmetic. But with the firm hand of our teacher we succeeded in passing to the second grade. Here we met another nice teacher, Miss Lyndal Hudson. We gathered a new member, Peggy Miller. Here, too, we found new books and lessons, but we finally made it to the third grade. Mrs. Norris had taken over our band of travelers. We are proud to have had this able teacher as our leader. She managed to drag our feet over the strange land of health, art, spelling and penrnanship. A traveler, Edward Lee Endicott, joined us this ear. y Now we are nearing that ever dreadful land of harder and higher arithmetic, and who should be our teacher but our own Miss Haught. We had now reached the fourth ade. gr After many troubles we finally reached the fifth and sixth grades. Here our leader was Mrs. Louise Smith. We ran into those monsters called fractions in arithmetic. But Mrs. Smith showed us various styles of combat and soon we conquered them. We gathered a new explorer here, Geraldine Bearden. Well!!! We felt a little more grown up as we entered Junior High. Here the seventh grade seemed pretty hard, but with Mr. Naylor as our leader in everything but arithmetic fMr. Krober was our teacher in thatj we passed on to the eighth grade. We met a new traveler here who is titled Luella Nicholson, and also Tommy Howard, who was picked up. To get us graduated from the Eighth grade, Mr. Hathaway took over, never failing us. Again we had Mr. Krober as our arithmetic teacher. Then came graduation. We would soon be in High School! Shelia Warnock joined us here. Whee!!! we finally made it, we were now in high school. We were all so excited. Mrs. Reese was our sponsor the Freshman year. We all enjoyed this year, taking part in high school activities. Now we are really in high school. We proudly wave our banners high bearing sgehnhazxe Sophomores. Here, we selected as our sponsor, Mr. Hughes, and he is still Our junior Year was a busy one. We ave the unior Pla , which was s nsore by Miss Haught. We all worked in the Snagk Bar anli raised nloney so we cdbutld giv: the Seniors a nice banquet. Now on the last lap of our journey we are finishing high school Here two more travelers joined us, they are Luewane Potts and Richard Billbe. So with our eyes on The flmlfe, but with heavy hearts because we are leaving behind us many dear friends and teachers, we now bid the halls of Shamrock High--Goodbye!
