CHESS HUSTCQUBY OUR years ago the present senior class pulled open the heavy doors of Shamokin High School and entered the corridors to a new, very new school life. In these past four years we have found it to be a wonderful life. W'e studied, but with our studying we had many good times. Our freshman year was quite exciting. We were green, terrifically green freshies who couldn,t make one move without having the upper- classmen-including sophomores-find fault. Freshies, use the eleva- tor! In assembly- Folks on the shelf, please remain standing! In corridors- Not so much noise in the hallli' were among the many orders shouted to us that year. Sophomores, and it was our turn to give orders. This year our class was organized. Election of officers took place and we selected Mr. Evans as our class sponsor. XVe immediately started to Hll our empty treasury. Being sophomores, we were allowed one major activity. We decided that it should be a dance, but it must be different. So it was. The spot- light dance was a huge success, even the seniors had to admit it. At last we were juniors. Christmas cards and football pennants were sold and our treasury began to swell. A costume dance at Hallowe'en proved to be most successful. During the holiday season we gave a nov- elty snow ball dance. In February Growing Pains was given by our classmates. Later came the opera, The Pied Piper of Hamelinf' and The Green Ghost. W'e ended this delightful year with the Junior Prom. It was held in the American Legion Ballroom. These four years have passed very quickly. Now we are at the end of our senior year. During this year we gave several dances, all of which were a huge success both socially as well as financially. Throughout this last year The Yankee King, Tulip Time, and Going on Seventeeny' were presented. This year, as is the custom, the juniors entertained us at a jolly, sociable prom. May has come and gone. Our Dinner Dance, Class Night, Baccalaure- ate Service, and Commencement are now past memories. They are four years that we can never replace, but which shall always remain vivid in our minds and bring to us many an hour of pleasant recollection. We have past on from those beloved corridors and shut those heavy doors as we left. We, the class of 1958, are now Alumni. l.igt Sixiten :ny
