ORGANIZATIONS CHRISTIAN YOUTH ROUND-UP Shallowater Christian Youth Round-up is an inter-denominational organization compos- ed of young people of Shallowater and surrounding communities. David Hamblin, member of the First Methodist Church, now a student at McMurry College, was elected first president, Wayne Tucker, member of the Shallowater Church of Christ, served two terms as president, and J, B. Wages, member of the First Baptist Church is serving as president at this time. Meetings are conducted the first and third Monday nights of each month at a Shallowater church. The usual program is presented as follows: Business session, social hour, recrea- tion and refreshments in fellowship hall, and candlelight worship service in the church auditorium. REV- C- K- ROBERTS, REV. CECIL OTTINGER, PASTOR or Fmsz- BAPTIST PASTOR FIRST ME THODIST CHURCH. CHURCH These men are ardent and faithful supporters of the Christian Youth Round-Up.

ANDERSON. CLAYTON SCHOLARSHIP WINNER-C. W. Perser, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Perser, 214 miles northeast of Shallowater, Saturday was announced as one of seven winners of S200 Anderson, Clayton 81 Co., agricultural college scholarships among Texas 4-H club boys. Young Perser is pictured above with two of his calves which he will enter in the approaching South Plains Fat Stock show. Perser, senior student in Shallowater high school, who has been in club work seven years, won his scholarship on the production record of ten acres of cotton he raised the past year. He made an average of 500 pounds of cotton from ten acres under cultivation and his net return was 8880. Young Perser's club work includes swine, beef cattle, dairy cattle and row crops. To combat wind erosion his cotton land was chiseled twice and then listed and irrigated before planting. He was a member of the county livestock judging team which won the district con'est, has served 'd t of his club and was 'he county field crops winner and Gold Star boy in 1947.
