Physical education in the senior high is similar to the course set up in the junior high. They are alike in many xvavs. hut the course in the senior high is lmroader. The hovs have a physical program that is quite extensive. They take part in rigorous physical activities that coincide with social and hygenic stand- ards. Basketball. touch football. wrestling and softhall are included as part of their procedure, Calisthenics, vollev hall and track and field are also important to their program. They hope. in the future. to include a greater varietv of activities. The girls learn to enjoy active participation in a varietv of sports. and to promote good sportsmanship. Thev learn good playing tech- niques and development and understanding of game rules, Thev also want to further good hodv coordination and advance activities that will carrv over into leisure time and adult life. May Day with its pageantrv. gymnastic ex- hihitions and Senior Class Queen, has long heen a Shaler tradition. Planned hv teachers and students, this vear's theme will he 'lhlusic XYe Like.
