L. Arnold who retired last June after 24 years at Shatter High School. Mr. Jack Fisk, the new head, supplemented the course ot study with prac- tice on machines in the school ottice, including the tele- phone switchboard, the mimeograph and the ditto machines. A model telephone set. loaned by the Pacitic Telephone and Telegraph Company, gave students practical experience in its use. Besides ottice practice the business education department includes courses in bookkeeping, typing, personal typing, stenography. and general business. The expansion ot the program necessary to offer more variety to a greater num- ber ot students depends on the addition ot more classroom space and equipment. Growth in the home economics program necessitated the addition ot a halt-time teacher. Girls may study clothing, toods, child care, and home turnishing. Mr. Robertson's first period class are learning to type for their own personal use. 'i. ,QQ ., .E s is.
