This block contains many important events. The Junior Class Play, Poor Papa, was a great success and the wonderful Junior-Senior Prom Tropical Paradise, given for the seniors of '54, was beautiful. Classmates attended the Hi-Y-Teen Formal, and the Sweetheart Ball sponsored by the Student Council. Several of our members played on the O. V. A. C. Championship football team which won another trophy for S. H. S. The fourth block completed the Totem Pole. We claimed the aspired position of Seniors, thus ful- filling our dreams. In sports was produced the first undefeated, untied football team in Shadyside's history. Basketball, too, attracted our boys. Sen- ior rings displayed initials of our Alma Mater. Senior pictures were taken. The Hi-Y-Teen Formal, The Snoball with Christmas trimmings, was a holiday highlight. As spring approached, we looked forward to our Junior-Senior Prom, our class play and meas- urements for caps and gowns. Then Commencement! Our Totem Pole of memorable years at Shadyside High was finished. Proudly we marched to the tune of Pomp and Cir- cumstance to receive our diplomas. With the sing- ing of our school song we realized that this was the grand finale of our school days but we were happy that we earned the right to be called Alumni of Shadyside High. 9
